I have never had the pleasure of visiting Cooperstown, but definitely in the future. When the Orioles I have seen play start getting in, not necessarily anybody now, but in the future, I may have to try to attend a ceremony.

I figure I'll be in the Minority on this one but don't care we all have our opinions. Mine is I support Morris  getting in. It's not all about stats it's also about Dominance and he WAS DOMINANT ! I knew of him as a kid and I was an NL'er Cubs fan. He had a rep. I here people all over the internet talking smack about him but yet when you ask more than half of them if they would like their team facing him they would be no way. Trammell however in my opinion shouldn't get voted in , B/C he was good REALLY good even and did for a good while but he wasn't Dominant in my opinion.

But now I shall relate this to card collecting with a mostly rhetorical question. Will this have any effect on the value of these players' cards? I think I've already had most of the cards of every hall of famer who got in in the last 25 years or more, so it hasn't been relevant.  But now that these players have the HOF Stamp of Approval, will the value of their rookie cards increase ten fold? Double? Or not change at all. Will there be a rush on late 70s Trammells and Morrises? I guess I wonder what the collectors who weren't collecting in the 70s and 80s views are on this. I know if Gil Hodges or Maury Wills ever get in, for example, I'd immediately try to purchase their last Topps cards to complete my collection of those. 

Just curious about people's thoughts.

I think there could be a rush on them.  People with HOF collections will need them.  Could take their value up, at least temporarily.

Remember, Trams Rookie card is shared with Paul Molitor. Now you have 2 HOFers on one card. That card will probably jump immensley.

Personally, I'm happy for both Trammell and Morris being inducted into the hall of fame.  Whether they deserve to be there isn't my call, but I would have loved to see Mattingly make it.  A big part of even coming close to a hall of fame career is by staying healthy however, and unfortunately Mattingly couldn't do that.  So I wouldn't argue with people who say that he doesn't deserve to be there, although I would agree to disagree.  Regarding the value of Trammell and Morris rookies, there is already a bidding frenzy and much higher than usual 'buy it now' listings on eBay.  I think with Trammell, collectors who want a nice graded one are going to pay through the nose either way.  Simply because he shares that card with Paul Molitor (HOF).  Even the 1978 Topps Burger King rookies where Trammel and Morris are featured on their very own card have sharply risen in value.  Over time I think the Morris cards will come back down to Earth.  A little higher than before his induction, but nothing insane.  The Trammel/Molitor rookie on the other hand may not only spike up in price (which it already has), but it could even stay there before settling at that higher price.  Especially the graded ones.  If collectors missed the bus in picking up the Trammell and Morris rookie cards before they were announced as hall of fame members, then I would definitely take this opportunity to purchase the '78 Topps and/or '78 Topps Burger King rookie cards of Lou Whitaker.

I've never been to an induction ceremony, but did get to Cooperstown about a month after Sandberg and Boggs were inducted. I'd love to go back there again some time. Maybe I should start saving money to make the trip when Yadier Molina retires. I'd certainly have enough money to make an extended visit for his induction when he gets in on the 1st ballot! If Pujols hadn't ditched the Cardinals for more money with the Angels, I would've wanted to go for his induction. Even though I couldn't possibly be there when my childhood idol (Ozzie Smith) got in, I was happy to be there shortly after Sandberg got inducted. Even with the rivalry b/t the Cards and Cubs, I still collect Ryno's cards. He's the only Cubs player I collect, but seeing the display for him at the HOF made me appreciate my collection of him more than I already did. I especially like having the All-Star cards of him and Ozzie together. Oddball info about my visit to the HOF, I got there right after they put the Schilling 2004 WS bloody sock on display.

As for values on Morris and Trammell cards, they'll go up a bit for a short time and then fall back down to slightly more than they were before getting inducted. Some cards won't change at all though. That's mostly b/c of their time period. The base cards of the 80's probably won't see any increase. RC's and certain inserts will go up in value for a while, but the non-RC's will settle back down closer to where they were before the induction. The Trammell/Molitor RC won't drop nearly as much as the Morris RC will after the increased interest dies down.

I would consider going back for Yadi too.

I'd love to go back for that induction. I'd rather see him play live first though! My only in-person Cards game was in STL in 2013 and he was on the DL for that game. He came back a few days later against the Cubs, but I couldn't get tickets to the game. It was a noon game on a weekday and I was there with other family members. I had already committed to other site-seeing adventures with them. I'd love to get back to STL again just as much as I'd love to go back to the MLB HOF! Six days in St. Louis just wasn't enough for me. Then again I was only in Cooperstown for a single afternoon/evening! I also was driving over from Niagara Falls. The falls weren't my choice, but a stop on a road trip. I went to Chicago to see my sister graduate from Navy Boot Camp. My Mom, little brother and myself traveled east along the Great Lakes after that. We stopped in Cleveland for my 1st live MLB game, but it got rained out by the remnants of Hurricane Katrina. We stayed the next day to watch the game. I got to see my all-time 2nd-favorite catcher play (now HOFer Ivan Rodriguez). He won the game for the Tigers (I was rooting for the Indians) in the bottom of the 8th with a 2-run HR to win 4-3. Then we drove to Buffalo. After an accidental excursion into Canada at the Falls, we stayed the night in Buffalo again. We went to the American Falls the next morning and then headed for Cooperstown. It was close to closing time when we got there, so I only had about 2 hours to roam around. NOT enough time at the MLB HOF! After that, we traveled along the east coast until we got back home in NC. The remnants of Hurricane Katrina really screwed me on that trip b/c I had to cut short my visits at the Rock 'n' Roll HOF in Cleveland and the MLB HOF! Cooperstown is at least a 14-15 hour drive from my house and I don't fly anywhere. I would consider it to see Yadi inducted into the HOF though! Everyone who knows baseball knows he will get in and I'd bet money that he does it on the 1st ballot. I'd still like to see him play in-person first though!
