If it's still in business, the Welcome Diner, 924 E. Roosevelt St. A Valentine diner (Little Chef model) built in Wichita, Kansas. There are also Valentine diners in Bisbee, Flagstaff, Sanders, and Winslow. If you go let me know, I'd like some more information about it.

How cool! I have always wanted to go to a place like that. Wish we had some kind of place like that here in Phoenix but I don't know of any. One of the things that stinks about AZ is that there isn't a whole lot of historical places like on the east coast. There are old western historical sites and native american sites, but nothing like what you would see in NY, NJ, MA etc.
We have a place called the Chicago Hamburger Company which is one of my favorite places. I am pretty sure it has been there for a long time. But even so, it's just immitating something that you'd find in Chicago.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Oh wow thanks. I had never heard of it before. I may go check it out sometime. It's in a really old part of downtown, which is where I figured they might be if there are any. I live in north Phoenix so it's not super close but still only a short drive from me. About 20 minutes on the freeway. My wife grew up more around that area and she always wants to go places more south of us but I am always too lazy unless it's for like a Suns or Dbacks game haha. She might really dig this place. Thanks for the info!

There is a card show in Bordentown NJ, this Sunday the 19th. It is at the Ramada Inn. It is on Rte 206 North, about 1000 ft from the NJ Turnpike Exit 5 off ramp in south Jersey. 9-2. They are listed on the shows at the bottom of the TCDB page, RK Sports production. Around 35 dealers.

A few of the shops on the TCDB link were closed for business, but I did find one, Mr. D's Sports Cards, and bought me a nice box of mainly commons of 70's including many '72s through early '10s. It was my mother lode for $25 and I got a bunch of baseball, some football and basketball, and a few hockey. Never owned hockey in my life! Probably about 5000-6000 cards in all. (Most going on my trade list.)
The guy, Greg, running the store was friendly and funny. He works for his brother the owner of the place.
If you go there tell him the guy from Texas who was looking for '62 Colt 45s told you about it.

There's quite a few of the classic diners still in operation in Connecticut. My Mother-in-law lived in Dayville until recently, so we've frequented Zips for many years. Also, along the way from home to there, we pass the Aero Diner in Windham. We've eaten there once or twice, but not often.
I remember a couple on the Berlin Turnpike too. The Makris Diner is still operating, but I've never eaten there, at least not by that name. I have eaten often at the Olympia Diner, but not for many years. That was a popular haunt back when we used to cruise the strip as teenagers and 20-somethings.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple dozen more tucked here-and-there about the state.

My last count, 70 authentic vintage diners in Connecticut. A few not in operation. I've only been to 29 of them.

Tom, thanks for the heads up on those diners; I'm literally right down the street from you (Ellington). Still new to the area and figuring everything out up here. My son and I love old-school diners and now have to check them out.

I'm going to be right near there, although I might be a little hungover. Is there a cost to get in?

$2 to get in. You get a ticket for an hourly drawing for a $10 gift card that can be used at most tables, I believe. $3 if you are hung over.
