Yes, only actual sales should be recorded, not asking prices. I would say that a Buy It Now would be consistent with a retail sale as opposed to an item where actual bidding has taken place, which would constitute an "auction".

I have only added one price to the database. When I go to a show I have a dealer I deal with that normally gives me a discount. So i worry about my prices skewing the price of the card down on here.
The one I added was a 1969 Gordie Howe, that I paid $15 for. Which looking on Ebay is being asked for anywhere between $25 and $200.

When dealing with vintage cards, it is also important to include the condtion when adding prices. $15 for 1969 Gordie Howe may be a reasonable price for a card in VG condition, whereas the same card in NM may sell for $200. But as others have said, only sold for prices should be entered.

~Rob~ Hockey set collector including inserts, ERR, COR, VAR. Knowledgeable about 1968-69 to 1994-95 hockey. All 1990 and newer cards for trade are NRMT. Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.

Just remember, prices don't drop off, so for anybody who bought Johnny Manziel rookie cards the day they released and entered those high prices, those prices still factor into the mean value today, despite the fact that these cards are probably worthless now.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Just think. Your 2017 TCDB trading card is probably worth more than Johnny Manziel's.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
