I have sold on eBay off and on over the years and currently have about seven items for sale there, two of which are currently being watched by users (two on each). Anyway, I got an email from eBay this morning, informing me that because four of my items haven't had as many views as other-like items have, they (eBay) were allowing "buyers to make offers" on them. The company does this, of course, with the intentions of increasing my chance of selling the items. I did not like it. one. bit. And I sent a tweet letting them know my displeasure. An employee told me I could simply not accept the best offers. No crap. That's not the point. The point is that eBay should not take it upon themselves to make those changes. Whatever happened to my rights as the owner of the item?
Am I overreacting?

Not overreacting. I agree it's your right to sell as you wish. However, I'm sure Ebay has it's fine print rights, too, to do as they are doing.
Blessings on your sales.

I'd be upset too, but they haven't done that to mine...yet.

Last month they did that to 11 of my items. Pissed me off to no end. The cards were priced at the lowest I could price them without losing money.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Pissed me off, as well. One common theme I hear coming out of the mouths of those who sell a lot on the site is that they (eBay) continue to make it more and more difficult to be profitable. I have a number of cards I have thought about listing on eBay, but at this point, I'm reconsidering and might look to COMC or removing my 'Vacation' status on Sportlots.

Yeah, I printed off the info on COMC, regarding their selling policies, rates, etc... and am considering it. I've been buying off there for years but have never submitted any cards to list.

I've never experienced, or heard of anything like this as a seller on Ebay.

I believe there is a way to disable the "best offer" when you create your listings, but I think ebay has been making it more difficult for novice sellers to figure out how to do it. I haven't sold much on there, but I've never had the "best offer" get enabled on any of my stuff, I have seen lots of complaints about it on other discussion boards though.
