I collect postcards, but limit my collection specifically to places I've been to. I've considered expanding that but havent decided for sure yet.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Yeah, I buy a postcard at just about every place I go. And they're actually in postcard books. But somehow I never really considered it to be a "collection." I guess it is. But the last thing I need to do is start seeking out old postcars on eBay and making it a real Collection. I'll just stick with baseball cards until I get all the ones I want (which will be never).

Did you check with the Hudson River Maritime Museum? They probably have a history of ships that operated on the Hudson.
UPDATE: quick search; was it the Chrystenah?

If anyone ever comes across a postcard of the Hudson River ship Chrystina (possibly spelled wrong- they spelled in odd and I can't remember exactly) please grab it for me. My grandfather's great-uncle was captain of the ship in the early 1900s. I saw one on Ebay a while back, balked at the price asked for the condition of the card, and have not been able to find another one for sale since. Stupid, stupid.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Honestly, if I let myself go all-in on post cards, I would probably quit buying sports cards. I probably prefer them, which is probably why I've been so cautious with them. I guarantee you though, when i get home from work tonight, i'm going to evaluate my collection. And the cool thing about old post cards; it's actually preferred when they're written on!

I will send old valentine cards as a PWE with 2 or 3 cards in toploaders inside. Please disregard the "Love ya mores" added to the bottom. Good thing she doesn't know that is whats happening to some of our old stuff that takes up valuable BBC space.

If anyone is interested in old postcards, send me a personal to discuss as I have a bundle to sell. Mine are unposted from the early 1900s, most around 1908. No sports, boats, planes, trains or automobiles.

The only postcards I collect are sports-related. But I do pick up shot glasses everywhere I go. I also collect the "squished pennies" that you find at many locations around the country. I have a Canadian one too, but up there it's a copper slug squished and stamped. I have almost filled up a book of those pennies now and most were obtained by me. Some were given to me by family members, but so were some of my shot glasses.
