So if you look at the full list of today's birthdays, Pope Leo III is listed....under "baseball."

To begin with, I got a good chuckle out of the title of this post.
Secondly, (yes I'm stating the obvious here) it's clear that Pope Leo's PID under baseball is due to his inclusion in the 2006 A&G set (another reason I don't do A&G, but I digress). So what should be done to fix this? Should his PID be changed to put him under "non-sport"? Is that something we can do? I ask in a public setting as this is something I would like to learn myself.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I looked at editing the Pope's info but could not see any way to move him to Non-Sport.

Typically, I create a new PID in non-sport, and then move the cards. I've gradually been fixing these, as I notice them, for the past few years. (I'm sure others do too; I'm not trying to take full credit). I, for one, wish it was possible to delete a PID while cards were still there. It would speed this process up significantly .

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Click on the link to edit info.
In there, there will be a link to send error report.
That will go directly to Admin - in there specify the correct category the PID should be moved to.

I found an inaccuracy report and asked for Pope Leo to be moved to Non-Sport.

Thanks....I guess. Sure, it'd be more accurate, but I kinda preferred him in baseball, just to amuse myself.
I don't really know how it works, but the A&G sets are considered to be baseball, I think, because that's mostly what they are. So if you change the good Pope's categorization, does that mean some cards in that set are baseball and some are not? And is that ok?

The category of the card or set is independant of the person's category.

It looks like its been changed, but I noticed Pope Pius (might have mispelled that) has two PID's. Dr. Seuss does as well, and has cards in both. Not sure if anyone wants to tackle those or not, but noticed Seuss' for a while but kept forgetting to mention it.

Ok, I'll let you all in on one of my other side projects, but I'm currently several days behind (and I missed several days in January when I was sick and couldn't even get out of bed for more than a day).
I review the birthday lists and remove all of the duplicated PIDs, add samples for those missing samples, change samples (mostly baseball) when a sample is a minor league card when he has major league cards (my theory is he made the big leagues, his sample should show that!), sometimes find PIDs where there needs to be more PIDs because it's more than one person, find cards that belong to another PID, find funny names to give to C2C to add to his list, and find scans that needs to be removed due to not meeting standards (gross violators). It usually takes me 45 - 60 minutes per day. Now that more PIDs are getting the bio info in them, the daily b-day list is growing. Last year, when I attempted to start this, there were about 200 names per day and it took about 30 minutes. Now, we have 300-350 per day usually (there was a nice day recently that was about 250).
I would be grateful to have some assistance on this, but at the same time, I don't really know who:
- has time (not like I do either)
- has the patience
- has the eye for the detail (remember, I do software QA for a living - I'm trained to find mistakes and stuff like that)
If you want to help me, let's coordinate the effort - PM me, and we'll see what makes the most sense. I wouldn't be surprised if no one does. :)
