Those were early scans I added to the site many moons ago. I have gotten much better at adding images and I have replaced hundreds of my poor scans. It's simple, if you have a better scan and you have the rights replace it. If you want the points (Sandy it seems like you do) and that's fine just submit that there is a problem with the scan and Admin will remove it for you. I'm having a blast here Sandy I hope you are too!

I really could not care less about the points. I actually think the site would be better served without them other than for new members to control the "gates" that we all had to go through. Once a member has reached "Legend" and level Permission 8, the points are meaningless. And maybe if there were no points awarded past that point, members who really want to contribute would look at quality versus quantity.

This! Once you hit that max level your points disappear and there are no rankings published on the site.

Yup. The backs are easily noticeable as they are more narrow than the front images. Wish these uploads never happened. Truly would rather see a blank back than a half-image. As well, in a modern set, I am sure there are members who could upload a scanned image of their own instead of finding some image of a seller on ebay or wherever else they find them.

In some cases, I think a lot of these bad scans are caused by faulty scanning software. Or faulty ways of using the software. A lot of the images started out 2.5 x 3.5, but the cards wasn't in that particular frame or the scanner had turned on an "auto-crop" feature that doesn't work well with white bordered cards.
Another thing I'm seeing is cards that are being fed through document scanners (or business card scanners). I think that is what is the cause of a lot of these crooked scans with the black borders. I know when I scan a card on my flatbed scanner, with the lid closed, I get white borders, not black.
There was one set I saw a few weeks ago that had several images really badly cropped. I messaged the original uploader, and thankfully he still had the cards, and were able to replace the faulty images. Honestly, I didn't know what kind of reaction I was going to get, but it was worth a try. (And he was very good about fixing the issue.) I wish all members here would understand the rationale behind having full images on here and not chopped up images, and not get upset when their image is used as an example (but rather re-scan their card and just fix it).

I'm not mad, I have a good time of this site. Just getting tired of Saltyrusty complaining. He can fix the problem yet he would rather vent his frustration to the entire site. I have fixed thousands of images on the site yet you have never heard me complain (yes, some of the images were Rusty's) and I DIDN'T CARE! I just fixed the image and moved on, very easy and everyone is happy.

When I started scanning in cards back in 2010, I did a lousy job on many. Had a bad scanner and wasn't sure how to use the crop option. Since then I have gotten better and when I come across some sets from my early days, I try to correct those. Also, never did it for points. Takes time for everyone to learn.

When you look at some of the older scans it is very apparent that scanner technology has really improved over the past 10 years. Some of the old scans are washed out or even a tad blurry.

Excatly, so if you come across a poor scan or a scan that isn't cropped correctly just fix it. That is what I do without any fuss.
