There were 12 of these issued of baseball players. Measuring 2-3/8" in diameter, they are mini-records (cardboard covered with vinyl - this particular one only played on one side) that could be played on a Mattel record player made for these. There are other themed series, sport and non-sport. Some sports guides have these listed as they are collectibles.
Let the discussion begin....

I agree they're collectibles, but I don't think they're trading cards.

Regardless of yes or no, that is damn cool.
An agument for no....they are not traditional type collecting cards obviously, and sold for a specific novelty. Counterpoint...album stickers are sold for a specific novelty.
An argument for yes...you could buy them in "packs." as seen below. Counterpoint...no randomness. As far as I can tell they were sold as specific four packs.
I'm on the fence for database inclusion, but teetering toward no.

I had those as a kid. Just a month or so ago was looking them up on ebay. Those were the days. Agreed, a collectible, not for this data base though. Ahhhh, those were the days....

I'll just put out something similar that is already listed here: 1989 Baseball Talk - cards with a "record" on the back of them. Cardboard and vinyl...

Loved those back in the day. Back in the day my brother and I had two players and at least half of the discs available, with little duplication between us. I wish I still had all those discs. Sadly I don't in recent years I did pick up two of some fave players. A few years back on my blog I mentioned them.

They are small enough to fit in a soft sleeve and are not an full-sized record, I say why not?
