Hi all,
I’m gradually getting my collection on here. I want to try and trade or sale most of my duplicates. I have mainly baseball from the early 80’s up. My question is, is it worth while putting all the commons on my list? I have a lot from the late 80’s and early 90’s like most of you I’m sure. My thought was to list everything up to about 86 then just stars and rookies from the “junk wax” era.

You would be surprised what people want from the "junk wax" era. I'd say it's certainly worth it, as many might still be completing sets from that era, and there's no shortage of team collectors finishing off team sets.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Even more so if you have the variations, errors, etc. from those years. Like jasonmonger9 said there are many trying to complete those sets. I, for one, am trying to track down many of the errors/variations from that time frame and have actively traded on here for those.

I went to look to see if I had anything you need. But your entire Collection, Wantlists, For Sale/Trade lists are hidden.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I just turned it back on. I've been travelling heavily for work the past few months so I turned everything off as I wouldn't have been able to do anything. I got confirmation that I'm off the road for a bit so I can start trading again.

My take is that if you are mainly interested in selling the commons you may as well bundle and you will be lucky to get someone to pay the postage to take them for free if they are junk era cards. Wasn't it Bob who was trying to give away 88's last week? But, if you are looking to trade for some similar junk commons because you like to build sets or team sets (whatever your interests are) you can usually find some willing traders who are here collecting as a hobby. Heck, every time I trade I shake my head about how the shipping cost is just as costly as the cards I am getting or receiving but I enjoy building sets and collecting cards I don't have or of my favorite players or teams. I guess that's why it's a hobby for me.

As others have said there are some still building sets or team sets from those years myself included (I have no idea what I really need from what) PLUS if you stop to think about it the "junk" era ended about 20 years ago, before any kids who are into the hobby were born. Those junior collectors should get a kick out of those "ancient" cards. By some people's defintion the 1980s and the start of the 1990s are now "vintage".

I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies). My Trade List is very much a work in progress CaptKirk42s Trading Card Blog Curly W Cards Strive For '65 YouTube klandersen42

Not too long ago my 12 y.o. son helped me open some packs of those vintage cards and i did get the comment about being old. So I had him try the gum as payback... Nothing like 30+ year old gum as payback....

Best forum post in awhile...
