One thing came to mind the other day regarding the glossary terms with serial numbering. Is there an easier way to create the numbering for each card? For example, instead of putting SN299 for every card in the set, a way to sort of duplicate it by choosing the numbering, and then checking off all cards in the list with that numbering? I realize some sets have different numbering to them within the sets, but putting each individual "SN299" in the checklists is time consuming. Maybe like card #'s 101-150, SN299 - card #'s 151-200, SN199 for example.
Also, it's hard to distinguish a lot of serial numbered or colored parallels by looking at the scans. Any chance we can get a magnified picture when you drag your mouse over the image, like Ebay has?

In light of the latest Beckett lawsuit news currently reported at CardboardConnection.com, all of the contributors of this site need to take a few weeks and seriously look at the checklists posted here at TCDB and make whatever edits are necessary to ensure that this site is not using clumsily copied & pasted information from Beckett.
I understand being in a hurry to get the checklists in the system, but in the interest of data quality and integrity (meaning the use of correct and full player names that can be indexed properly) and the continued existence of this website, everyone needs to be sure they are including the best information possible.
There is no excuse for sloppy abbreviations of player names. If it takes longer to clean up the data before submitting it here, then just take the extra time and get it right. The 2005 Upper Deck Hall of Fame baseball sets featuring multi-player cards are a perfect example of what NOT to do. "B.Will / Yaz / Kiner / Musial" ? That's how you get sued.

Aaron,
If using excel to submit a checklist, copying of a field to a series of fields is actually quite easy. Type in the text in two consecutive boxes (SNXXX), highlight those two boxes and drag the bottom right corner of the second box down in all of the boxes that you wish it to be copied.
I agree with the DaClyde on the submission of incorrect / incomplete data in checklists. Just this morning I looked at the 1992 Bazooka set because the Roy Campanella card was not in his checklist. The majority of the cards are not linked because it was input with commas separating the names and not the /. I will try to find the time to go back and correct the rest of them but it will take almost as much time to do this as it would have to submit the actual checklist originally. None of us are perfect (I know I'm not) but some are less so than others.

We may need something like a link or button to report problem checklists, and add a Cleanup list to the "Things To Do" page. Anything with the potential to get the site shutdown and syntax quirks (like commas instead of slashes) rendering a checklist useless for the purpose of indexing here could get priority. It is a real pain to clean up hundreds of checklists of hundreds of cards each because of abbreviated names, descriptive text in the name field, incorrect numbering, etc.

There is the Name Validation System under Things To Do to fix checklists with problems.

Then people need to start cleaning up the text while validating links, instead of just validating the links. It is the text that is the problem.

I just sent an email to Admin about the descriptive in the name feild for the 2004-05 In The Game Ultimate Memorabelia (Hockey) set, the Archive sets are an interesting bunch, it looks like each card had to have the PID manually linked because they chose to put the descriptive in each and every name slot ......... 800 cards this way!! NUTS ..... go take a gander at the insert sets listed 1st Edition through 4th Edition .... lots of work to do there!! Also when ever I see a problem with a checklist I click the "See Any Inaccuracies" link and tell them right away, and they always seem to be fixed within like 24 hrs. It good to know this is getting the attention it deserves and I'm not the OCD monster my wife thinks I am!! LOL

I've actually backed off of correcting checklists through the name validation system in recent weeks, because I finally found it to be too overwhelming fixing these repetitive mistakes for hours on end. However, in light of the Beckett lawsuit, I will get back on it. When a name is spelled wrong on a base checklist, plus all 35 of the parallel sets, it gets old fast.
Just throwing this out there, everyone... If you upload a checklist, and every name has a SPACE after the last letter, this will cause the names to not link to the PID, and somebody has to go through and fix ALL OF THEM! Even though you can't see the space, it is there.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Working on cleanup of checklists now. I have come across this card. It has an image, but I can't identify all four players. Would it be acceptable to rename this card "Bucks Team", and if somebody came along that could identify the players, they could link the card to them? There are a LOT of cards like this (I would estimate THOUSANDS), and in many instances, there aren't even scans to refer to. How would something like this best be handled?

To expand upon my last post, some of the other Team cards from the subset with the Bucks card are listed as "Celtics Team", "Rockets Team", etc. if there are several players pictured.
