Navigatingthe site has been normal except when I'm on another members page and I try to match my for sale/trade list with their want list. It just takes forever and eventually times out. I can't view their want list matches and it's frustrating.
If anyone has a reason or explanation I'd be happy to hear it. It's been happening all day and partially I'd just like vent my frustration.

If I recall, someone else had made this observation adn the comment was that it can happen when a member has too many cards listed in his Want List or his For Sale / Trade List. Not sure if this is a fact but it does make sense in that, the search engine may not be able to complete the search due too to many listed cards.

I remember this because I made a note that I would need to go in my For Sale / Trade List and remove the duplicate cards so as to minimize my list. The problem I foresee is that, as this site automatically updates the lists of trades made on the site, any card I have in duplicate will need to be reentered "For Trade" after I make a trade. I also don't list the cards from 1989 to 1993 as I have too many to list, pretty much all of them in quantities to an extreme. This will be my project for the winter months. Anyone know if the automatic update can be disabled for a particular member? It might be better if only the Want List was updated by the site adn the For Sale / Trade lists were updated by the member themselves.

It is too bad the system can't recognize duplicates and just keep the total in parenthesis at the end of each listing. For example, instead of listing 23 Mike Scott cards individually, it could just show #659 Mike Scott (23).

I also find the multiple listing annoying but I can see a reason why it is done. Multiple cards but of different grades. For example; if I have two #659 Mike Scott but one is a Mint and the other is a Very Good. And of course if I price them they'd have different prices. But an option for those of us that don't mark our cards with grades or prices, then the "#659 Mike Scott (23)" would be a space saver.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I have experienced the same issues, but I chalked it up to those with big lists and/or lots of traffic at that time. If I'm patient, it works. I found the multiple listing for duplicates annoying at first, but have grown to accept it and it can be beneficial for selecting which cards to trade (i.e. selecting those in triplicate or with different grades as previously pointed out.)

I like Kaline's idea of a counter. This way, when a trade is made, the counter could be reduced by one every time a trade is made which would eliminate the other problem I spoke of with the automated update after a trade. Admin?

My guess (and an admin will correct me if I am wrong) is the duplicate listings are simply a result of a query dump from the database. When matching lists it simply finds all the cards in the database that has indexes for that user. Since mulitple cards would have multiple indices, all of the cards get listed resulting in multiple listings for a single player. Someone with some database query experience ought to be able to modify the query string to add a count for multiples, but this would further slow down the resulting process.
