Can somebody do me a favor. Cna you please click on Browse / Hockey / Sets and see if you can find the above listed set looking through the "Browse by Brand" list. Am I correct in saying it does not exist there? Now click on 2011-12 and see what you find ......... how is this possible??  After expalining that quirk for me on to the next one ..... the other question I have ...... if Panini America labels it as Donruss Elite on thier very own site then why is it listed here as Panini Elite. Yet again the confussion for this dimwit. They have Donruss, Panini, Playoff and Score as their "brands" so why is it that its not Panini Score ...... I know the most likely answers but I just dont get it, to me it is still Donruss Elite, manufactured by Panini. Let it begin .......... LOL Good night all.

I guess it was a little too late into the night but just to make sure everyone understands it clearly I am talking about 2011-12 Panini Elite, but then again it is on the thread description. Been some long days here as I am working on my year end books for income tax season. Just a bit of a zombie today too.

You are absolutely correct. I've noticed some sets missing from the Browse by Brand lists. Also, this site is very inconsistent in the set naming. Some sets have the company and product names, while others produced by the same companies only have the product name. Irregardless of what is printed on the face of the card (Fleer Ultra, Topps Stadium Club). Then some add the company name when it is not printed on the face of the card but only in small print in the copyright line (Panini Elite). 

My stance is all sets should have the company and product names. And it's an absolute fallacy to say "everybody knows them as Ultra". In their 23 years of existence I never heard of them referred to as just "Ultra" until I joined this site.

I've noticed the same thing in the racing section.  The Browse By Brand list is not comprehensive.  I have no idea what makes some brands show up there and others not.

As far as naming of entries, the organization of the site seems to be focused on sets.  Therefore it seems that the brand would be the focal point of the listed name, moreso than the manufacturer even.  I always err on the side of including more info than less myself, including enough info to be unambiguous without being redundant.  Unfortunately the only guidance in the site documentation is that the set name needs to be entered in Title Case.  If the FAQ or Guidelines contained more guidance this might not be such a hotly debated topic.
