Hi Folks,
Listen, I appreciate the fact that every edit we make, we get one card closer to having a 100% accurate database. And I appreciate the fact that people take their time and effort to make updates to the site. ... ... However....
If you're going to update the entry for the player you collect for a particular insert set, please spend the extra 2 minutes and research the whole insert set and update the whole set. I'm finding sets (and seeing them still getting updated this way, even today) where only the card(s) of a particular player are getting notes added. This is even more frustrating when the insert set (as an example only, not reality) is an autograph set and only player #23 gets updated to "AU, SNxx" when a little research shows that the whole set is "AU, SNxx" (and xx is the same for all cards!).
Am I asking too much? Is it too much to update the whole set? Honestly, I've found it easier to update an entire set than it is to update 2 or 3 cards in the set. I've gotten the baseball sets under 3200 now that are still missing note definitions. It's a slow go because I've found some really messed up sets. I could have just entered the missing info and moved on, but I couldn't let the set be in that shape.
What do the rest of you think? Thanks.

Dan...I just mentioned something along those lines, seconded by Chuck and others....if we had the ability to start off each set, especially the Insert and Related sets with a little "blurb" about the definitions of the set. This might help give members the info and impetus needed. Like your example above, something like; The ________set is a 10 card autograph set. All cards in the set are autographed. ?~BOB~

Is there a way to make a batch edit of the checklist? Perhaps I am just not seeing how to do it

For inserts and parallels (and related), you click the edit next to the name and a link is available to edit all notes (as well as one to edit all card numbers). Base sets are still only mass-editable by Admin.

@ketchup you may not have the permissions yet either. at the bottom of the page under Account is a link "permissions". Just learning the protocol there and taking some easy test will give you more editing abilities

I agree on this, and have in the past only updated the cards I owned. Probably because I had player PC set up and only saw those. But have been working on fixing the sets in Hockey. It is a long process and probably will not be 100% because I am finding some only sets with multi player cards with only one player link. It is frustrating but will continue working.
Atleast we can make changes and make the site better.
Scans would be great also for the cards in your collection.

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

Honestly, I've done a lot of updating single cards from my collection. I have also taken time to do a bunch of checklists properly too. And this has been going on for well over a year. (I think before it was easy to edit the whole list at one time.)
Why am I only updating my player (or team)? Well, when I view my collection for missing scans, I then scan the card I have, and then fix whatever notes I need to for the card. That is without really even looking at the checklist. Part of the reason to only do the cards I am scanning is time - I don't have enough of it. But even updating one parallel that I scan with a serial number can give someone else the idea that their card fits in that checklist when they aren't marked. I know there are times that I wish that I would have seen one marked on a checklist.

I am a huge proponent of this, avs can back me on this, I am entering my PC of Ranfords yes, but for each and every set he is in (even if for now just an insert set) I research the S*&T out of it and fix it from front to back, I felt bad just the other day I was reminded of the glossary terms and check names and teams part as well, so as soon as I was made aware BA-BAM I was on it. I will do this until I hit the wall on my Ranfords am half way through 11-12 so 15-16 is not too far away. I will then start working my way back and fix the rest of the entire sets that he was included in. But yes to see one card updated enfuriates me!!!
