Personally I believe that the onus for this should be on the originaor of the checklist. It seems too may people want to be "the one" to get a checklist up and running and then just use the copy function to create other checklists but aren't willing to also update the serial numbering, etc.
I have been guilty in the past of just editing the card that I have access to but that is mainly because some insert sets have differing amounts of cards issued. I agree with others when they say that time is an issue too. It is imperative that accuracy is paramount when it comes to uploading our information, otherwise others follow our mistakes and that is detrimental to the database.
At the end of the day people will only do as much as they are willing and able to do. It just needs to be correct.

I agree that the originator of the checklist is to blame. Keep in mind, any set older than probably 2015, we didn't have the ability to do 99% of the mass editing, team assigning, name assigning, etc. that we can do now. Almost all of the editing features we have now didn't exist even 2 years ago. So there is another reason people might have only updated their own card. Sure, if the edit happened recently, there may something to get disgusted about. But most of these mass edits weren't possible for users until very recently, and the fact that this sort of thing was being done (only one card getting fixed) led to us requesting and getting the ability to do it ourselves. Since we requested these improvements, and we got these improvements, it is now our responsibility to use them. I guess it's the whole "Be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it!". But yes, if somebody is editing a single card NOW, they should absolutely do the whole set since it is pretty easy to do in most cases.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

There was somebody doing exactly that the day I posted this.

I will add this: if I notice a card of a one-team player like Derek Jeter or Chipper Jones missing a team ID, I will often update their team without updating 400 other missing teams for the set. Expectations like that would be completely unreasonable. Or if I notice a card in my hand is missing the team, I will update the team. But if I notice a card in my hand is autographed, but the set lacks the AU note, I definitely add the AU to all the cards. Then I go back and switch any AU,AU notes to AU to correct the people who did what Dan is describing. And it only takes a few more seconds than it would have taken to fix just the one card of mine.
I won't get started on my biggest pet peeve in checklist uploads, which is when all the names are entered with a space after the last name, causing none of the names to link to the players. I think that must come from copy-and-pasting a checklist from another site rather than typing the names out. But that's off-topic, so forget I mentioned it. Unless you are one of the people doing it. Then PLEASE stop!

ARGH!!! He was at it again on Friday updating just his player.
AND DOING IT WRONG!
And I've already e-mailed him in the past not to do that.
He put VAR on cards that were NOT variations.

I do a lot of single player stuff, and I try to add to sets as well when I have the info. But I run into things like this:
- some cards in a set are autographed, some not
- serial numbered cards are not uniform to a set (player x has 25 sn cards, player y has 15 sn cards)
This makes it tough to do bulk changes.

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

Admin just (minutes ago) added a feature where when doing bulk updates you can specify the number range.
THANKS, Admin!!!!

@j thats an easy fix- just get familiar w/ the editing functions on here and find the CL online at Carboard Connection, Beckett or someother site. You can add notes to the whole set like AU, MEM, SN25,, and if there are cards in there SN to 10, then do a Replace AU, MEM, SN2510 to AU, MEM, SN10 and it will only change them one's. Copy a small set to excel and practice with it, its the same features. (Find and Replace ALL). there are many newer sets that have about 15-20 different SN's within a single set- but once you get use to the editing functions, you can knock them all out in a cpl minutes
