Hi all. This may be wishful thinking, but, I was looking through the members list, alphabetically. Basically to see what people collect, and as a way to search for possible trades in a one on one environment (Rather than using the mass trade/sell crosschecking option.). As I worked through the A's, I found that easily 95% of the members listed had no cards in their collection, none listed to trade, and many hadn't been on in a couple years. I was wondering if it were possible, that these inactive members could be removed?, or some type of use criteria be set up for their removal. If nothing else it unrealistically inflates our member rolls. Others may have arguments against this, but, just curious here.
Ed ... Opening day in 2 days! Best of luck to all your teams.

Ed, you must have missed this recent forum post. I suggested IDing them in red, if not removing them.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I'm cool with inflated membership rolls myself. I don't care how many are active. Big numbers make the site look better.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

They should NOT be removed. When I found this site, I created my account and then didn't log in again for over a year, even though I did check the site several times during that time frame, using it for checklist reference only.
If I had come back and found that my membership had been removed, I would not only have never come back again, I would tell everyone who would listen to never come to the site as well. Is that something we want to have happen? I know the answer already and you do too- no. We do not.
Who cares if they are not active? Seriously, why does it matter? If you are trying to make a trade with them, then it is helpful to know how active they are- which is easily discerned by visiting their page and seeing their last log in date. Otherwise, it literally does not matter.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Big membership numbers also help advertisers decide wether or not to spend the money here for ads.

I see both sides of the discussion. Not everyone uses the site to trade cards, but are very active in maintaining a collection. I could MAYBE see cutting down list if first, the inactive members ( those who have no collection & have not looged in for a year) are sent an e-mail telling them their account will be deleted if they do not log in. But again, advertising revenue helps keep this site free.
Seems like a 6 of 1 or half dozen of another to me.

This has been a problem on other sites/forums. I can also see both sides of the card. There have been times I've been one of those "inactive" folks Sometimes I'm surprised when I rediscover a site I had neglected and try to jump back in, not always because sometimes there are reasons other than "its been a while since I've been there".
One suggestion would be for admin to come up with a generic "Hey its been a while since you have been on the site" email to send to members that have been away for more than a year, and add some encouraging words to get them to revisit the site. it is kind of pointless to send private messages via the site because they wouldn't see the messages until they finally logged back in and it could be quite possible their mailbox is full. They could have also had some computer probelms sometime ago and when they got their problem fixed forgot they had an account or worse forgot about the site. "I used to got to some trading card forum site. It is a pity I don't remember what it was called"

I went about five years without logging into my eBay account once. Then I logged in when I started collecting cards again. I would have been furious if my account and feedback score had been deleted. I just don't see the point of deleting members.

I would like to clarify, that I was referring to members who had no cards listed in their collection, wantlist or for sale & had not logged in in a year or more. My idea was to view each members collection one by one for the purpose of coming up with trades. Continuously clicking a name and seeing they had nothing, and didn't regularly use the site, became the norm rather than the exception. I see there are a lot of pros and cons on the topic, so I know I am not the only one frustrated by this. This site is still the best.
