I did that type of calculation, too, curious as to the approximate size my collection could eventually reach. And curious, in the end, which number will be higher: total number of baseball cards vs. total number of miles run. It'll be close, but I think the cards will win. Both numbers are about 1200 a year now. Running will go down. Cards will stay steady because there's a finite number of cards that interest me. It was all just for fun. But it did lead me to being amazed at those who've amassed hundreds of thousands of cards, because I'll never get there.
But I'll love my collection just the same.

For some reason I thought I had a lot more, it is possible I am looking over some. Thought I had over 500K, but my last estimate is closer to 225K.
Of that mass, or mess depending on how you look at it, less than a third I would consider my collection. Most complete sets are either baseball, football, hockey and basketball from about 1990 to about 1996. Maybe half of those are not even complete. I got close with varying degrees from 1 card to maybe less than a 100 then hit a brick wall finding singles, or tired of buying boxes/packs. Most of those boxes haven't been gone in to since they were new, hopefully I kept my list of needs in each one.
My albums, and top-loaders contain around 30K, with that about split nearly even with each other.
I've got non-sports on just about everything you can think of, except for maybe Barbies, but I bet there's someone who did a set. Non-sports was also the first I ever bought a case of, and it didn't generate the amount of cards I thought it would as far as a mass. Wish I could still afford to blow a grand on cards like that.
I try not to input what I have here except as I come across them. Tried writing down what I have, but gave that up many years ago, and stopped storing lists on computers after the first one died.

So far, I have about 28,000 entered into my collection. About 70-80% of that is inserts, parallels, game-used and autos. The rest is the base I've managed to input so far. That is only for the two major sports I collect - hockey/baseball. I still have roughly a dozen 5,000ct boxes to enter (not all filled). I also haven't entered my George Brett and Teemu Selanne PC cards. I haven't decided even if I will, as not all of Selanne's cards are listed (compared to Beckett or SCF). I always want my lists complete and accurate, so that's my OCD right there. I can't wait to enter in my entire collection to see what I truly have amassed in my 30yrs of collecting.

As of this moment, the database shows that I have exactly 5,550. Although this number will slightly increase as I still have a complete set of 2015 Topps Series 1 that I just bought that I need to go through. I've been finally sorting all of my cards into boxes so this number is pretty accurate. It's nice to finally know where all of my cards are located!
There may be a few duplicates in that number but whenever I have a large number of duplicates from a set, I move those into my trade list. I don't consder duplicates as part of my collection since I'm more interested in seeing how many unique cards I have.
Before I joined TCDB I never made a list of all my cards either by hand or on the computer. Now, unless this site shuts down, I can't imagine I will start a list anywhere else. It's hard enough keeping up with one list so I can't imagine maintaining a second one.

The collection total on your profile lists your collection and your for trade cards added together (135,829). I only collect Phillies in my collection (14,500) all different from 1886 til the present.

Thanks. I didn't know that. I need to start inputting my for sale/trade cards too.

The only cards I list in my collection on this site so far are my Tiger's cards. I have many, many, many completed sets that I don't put in here. Eventually I'm going to list all my tradeables, but right now I just use Beckett to trade. Going by the stats of my collection here, and my tradeables listed elsewhere I have about 23 000 cards "active." Complete sets I don't enter. If I remember correctly when I had everything entered on Beckett's site my collection was over 60 000, not including doubles, and that was about a year ago.

That shows me how far I really am from getting my entire collection on here. My profile page shows less than 12,000 and I know at least 3K are "wants" I've listed here. I have approximately 50,000 total cards of all kinds of stuff. All of my Racing cards are listed here and most of my NFL cards are too. MLB is the biggest chunk of my collection and there are barely any of those listed here yet. I guess I need to get to work more on adding my collection!
