It looks like the 1978 Topps Football team checklists are listed as part of the base set, and have their own checklist also. Since the cards are numbered as part of the base set, should the related checklist set which is a duplication of those cards be removed?

NO. Do not remove. The checklists were also a mail-in offer.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

This question pops up occasionally. Could someone put a note in the comments section noting that the checklist set is from a mail-in offer and to not delete?

Were they also available in the packs or complete sets? I don't remember sending in for them but that was long ago. Anyway to tell the difference between the two? Maybe the mail in set needs its name changed to reflect Mail In?

The set is already listed under "Mail-In Sets". Where's the confusion?

Just trying to help out. I didn't drill down far enough apparently. It's not obvious if you are just trying to add some cards

I don't have any of these. I never did any mail-in offers. But, Topps' usual MO with mail-in checklists were thinner card stock and/or single sheet.
