I loaded a picture and was messing around with the different options in the "Crop Help" screen. I clicked the 'rotate' button a few times, and it significantly degraded the quality of the image from what I loaded. Is this normal? I'm going to replace the image, but it appears to be a dangerous button to push!

In all honesty, I don't use the crop function anymore.  I did when I first started, but have since moved on to Microsoft Office 2010.  I can auto correct and then crop the photo.  When I scan the card, I orientate it so that the picture is already rotated to the correct viewing position.  Plus, my scanner gives me the option to rotate the picture before I save it.  As for using the crop function and rotation function on the site, like I said it has been awhile, but I don't recall it degrading the photo quality when I rotated the card.  I know it doesn't help since I can't say that I have used this feature recently, but when I did, I didn't see it doing that.  Welcome to the site.

I hope I didn't come off sound like a douche, it wasn't my intention and I apologize if I did.  My suggestion would be to just send a quick message to admin on the contact us screen and see if they could correct it.

No I didn't take it that way.  I just wanted to clarify that I didn't use the crop feature, just the rotate button.

I've been using whatever the default is on my computer, but I feel like I spend a lot of time trying to touch it up and I feel the cropping function isn't friendly.  If I do not scan the card exactly straight, then the card is angled and rotating it over rotates it.  I see the post on photoscape and here is where I show my age a bit.

1.  How do you get it?

2.  Is it trustworthy.  I feel like everytime I download something someone tells me to it has hundreds of things attached to it and then my computer never works right again.  I am very untrusting of modern technology and fearful to use it.  I move forward like Bill Murray in What About Bob?.  Baby Steps!

I was hesitant to download it at first - for all of the same reasons. Go to google and type in photoscape, first hit should be the www.photoscape.org. No ads, no junk, no trying to mess with your settings. Seriously, don't be afraid. You will not see me praise any other software on this site. Enjoy.
