How do you enter a name with Jr or Sr?? Ernst Kopf is actually a Jr. but is listed without it as all the cards until now have not had the Jr. So do i just add as Ernst Kopf Jr (do I put a period at the end of Jr?) in the aliases for him? If I have a new player say John Smith Jr. do I put the Jr behind the last name in the last name field? Help please.

I would add it as an alias, with or without the period based on how it is spelled on the card. You could even do two aliases to cover all bases. The point of the alias is to eliminate the need for manual matching, so add any and every version of JR that exists on a card.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Griffey Jr., Ken
Ripken Jr., Cal
Check out the players who already are in the system.
And sometimes, people wind up using Sr., so we have to include it.

I think whether it should be added or not, is dependent on whether the other (Sr. or Jr.) had anything to do with sports. For instance, the baseball player Pedro Florimon (who has since dropped it) started his career as Pedro Florimon Jr. His dad never played baseball professionally so I would see no need to list Pedro as Pedro Jr. However, with the Griffey's, both senior and junior played baseball, so you would definitely need to differentiate between the two.
With cards that are listed as Jr. or Sr. though, there should always be a period after them unless you spell the whole word out (i.e. Ken Griffey Junior). Any card that does not have a period after the Jr. or Sr. should technically be considered a misprint, either their printer didn't include the period, or their editors didn't pass English in high school and don't know their grammar well enough to know that there's supposed to be a period there.

Whether it should be added or not is 100% dependent on whether card companies print it on their cards. If we do as we're supposed to, and create the checklists based on what is "on the card", then we can use aliases to link to the correct PID. Has nothing to do with if Sr is used or not.
As far as the "grammar" side of things, fire everyone at Topps for the 1971 release where no capital letters were used in names. Let's not go overboard on getting picky about how companies punctuate abbreviations and names, etc.

Please do NOT spell out Junior on checklists. Somebody did a bunch of NASCAR checklists that way and it took me hours, literally, to correct them all and I was not the only one working on it. The proper way to do it is Jr. As that is what the PID are created as.
Even if it's not on the card and both people got cards it's best to include Jr. Anyway, because they automatically link to the father, and most of the time it's just the card company being lazy and not bothering to include it anyway. The best example I have of this is Mike Dunleavy. Sr. Was a 70s-80s player and later a coach. His son, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Entered the NBA in 2002 and is still playing. Many of his cards have been tagged to his father, and even after I fix them, they get retagged to his father. About once a year I go into his father's listing and correct them, some now three times. Even COMC lists jrs cards as Mike Dunleavy Sr.
Ranfordfan, I believe hockey has that issue with Ken Hodge and son, because I got a 74-75 Topps of Ken Hodge and my name file showed me he was already in my collection, yet I know I didn't have any of him before. Have not found the time to check the listing on here.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
