Been a member now for about a year and TCDB has caused me to quit fantasy sports, reading, playing my guitar and mandolin, watching Fox News, and bringing work home. It's also led me back into the hobby that connects me to my early years much like a fountain of youth.

I recently completed my 100th transaction on here, 99 of them in the past year, all trades. (Thanks to bkim for getting me into the swing of things!) I'm on several forums (Facebook groups, web pages) and this is my go-to. I do Phillies team sets and found out about several cards I wasn't aware of that are/could be a part of those team sets - inserts, parallels, etc. There are many great features that I haven't explored too much, but plan to very soon. Great bunch of guys and gals that are helpful, knowledgable and enjoy trading like I do. Especially helpful is the ability to match wantlists to sale/trade lists. A great site overall - helps me keep my sanity! :-) THANK YOU!

I second wackydog's post. I joined in February of this year and have over 50 completed trades so far. I love the ease of matching your trade/want list to another collector's collection. It is so much easier to track my Cardinals collection on here rather than update my Excel spreadsheets, although I still do that as a backup. I contribute a few scans here or there when I can. Trading is more my thing, but I find it gratifying to contribute to a site that has given me so much in a short period of time.

That's actually exactly how I interpreted your original post, Xanadude. Didn't think you were looking for a whole thread about people's favorite thing about the site. But someone else had responded that way. And I thought, "What the heck, go with it." And it's been a fun read.

I have two main reasons for joining the site, and I haven't been disappointed in either. First, I wanted an easy way to track my collection. Second, I wanted to find trading partners.
I have to agree with comments about the forum, too. I don't post an awful lot, but I do like to read people's thoughts. This is by far the friendliest, most reasonable forum I've come across on the interwebs. Disagreements are handled gracefully and people are usually supportive of one another. I've been on other sports card forums where I never could understand the animosity toward people who just wanted to send each other cards. That doesn't really exist here.

I think one of my many, many favorite things about this site is very similar to some of the thoughts expressed above. I like the fact that we are a laid-back community of card collectors, and not just here to see how much this card is worth or how much we can squeeze out of someone to pay for it. I've tried the Twitter thing with my blog name, and I just don't like it. There's tons of people out there who can't wait to turn to eBay with every big hit that they pull, and that's all they are concerned about.
Is there anything wrong with that? Absolutely not; to each their own. There is no right or wrong way to collect. But that's not the thing for me. I like to trade (and not worry about value much), to talk sports and cards, and to enjoy the company of like-minded people, even if it is virtually. I also enjoy having a body of work that I can help improve.
Without a doubt, the greatest thing about this site is the people, for reasons listed above and countless others. I consider you all my friends, and hope that others feel the same!

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I like that there are a lot of set collectors here like myself that can help fill current and junk era needs. I haven’t jumped into any real vintage trades yet but may someday. I feel lost on most sites because I have no interest in paying for, or pursuing 1/1 or other high value things coming out today.

I enjoy some of the user's icons....
But mainly love the ability to update and keep record of player set.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
