These people need to be called out if nothing else, to make Admin aware of some of the issues irritating the rest of us. If allthey care about is points, then they don't have enough care to make sure that what they are doing will meet the quality standards they first had to meet when they started.
Imagine loading over 125,000 back images of only a few different backs just to get 250,000+ points. I liken it to when I used to be in the military. The really mundane tasks we gave to those who could only really handle the most simple, repetitive task in the hope that it would keep them from messing anything else up. Unfortunately, once in a while, they would still mess something up that we had to fix.

I wasn't aware of that either, though I guess it makes a lot of sense. I might have a couple sets that I could do this for. BTW, thanks SandyRusty for the kind words. I wasn't aware this was a recent occurence.
As for calling out the people, whatever, I think it would be nice to see the cards in question though so if any of the regular "quality" uploaders could replace the scans (after Admin removes the original and the points if done with malice).
Maybe with 2018 being a big year for TCDB, it is possible to essentially remove the points system entirely only using it as a hidden feature only used when doing awards and such. Instead have a list of top contributors which would be similar to points but would be less of a contest for points, but honoring those who contribute a lot to the site. Maybe that would prevent people posting really bad scans or things they do just so they can get points. It would also allow members to replace scans without worrying about getting points and those who originally posted them losing points.

I would say posting crappy scans like the ones in question is actually WORSE than posting back scans for cards they don't actually have. At least, in those cases, the scans are usually ok quality. Scans with parts cut off, or badly crooked, or so washed out you can't even tell what color the card is, is worse. It doesn't let us know a scan needs to be posted, and doesn't help in card identification when they are so bad you can't even tell if it's the same card. Sadly there's a member who doesn't seem to care, and is quite prolific in posting. (more points than me)
Take a look at 1991-92 Pinnacle NHL. Either language. Almost every single card has had not only the borders cropped off, but part of the design and even some of the wording.
It's sad, because it takes literally 2 seconds more to do it right. Literally, in that I actually counted. It takes 2 seconds and is absolutely free...there's really no excuse to still be posting bad scans.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Ouch! Those 1991-92 Pinnacle Hockey are real bad and should simply be deleted right off the site. Let someone else who takes the time and care to load good images redo them. There are baseball sets as well that are really bad where you can't read anything on the back of the card because they were copied from a site where the images were out of focus. I would like to see them all deleted as well and replaced. I think we have enough new members who are eager to help that would gladly take on these tasks one set at a time and would make sure that what they post is quality. This would benefit the site in many ways including training new members and letting them realize the work that is put into building this great informative site. It would also allow themto contribute early on and make them feel part of the membership.
The points system really shold be abolished as it no longer is a true measure of someone's contribution. In my mind, the biggest contributor on this site isn't even in the top 50 yet he gives more to this site than anyone ahead of him in points.
But if points are tobe awarded, as far as I care Billy, you are #2 in true valid points on this site. Three of the four ahead of you too frequently show up in discussions such as these. Wonder if we could block their names off the list so I wouldn't have to see them there

Did Ray Charles scan those hockey cards? They look almost like a 3 yr old went hog wild with a pair of scissors.... obviously somebody is more quantity over quality .... too bad there can’t be a way to deduct points from people if their scans have to be replaced.... it’s making double the work for those who really give a crap...

If the scan is removed by Admin, the person loses the points (1 for front image; 2 for back image). But this is really not a penalty as it is just taking some undeserved points. But in this case (as when a set is ALL of poor quality scans by the same person), a member should be penalized more than just losing the points he gained for poor scans.
Maybe we do have 3-year olds on this site; after all most learn how to manipulate electronics by that age.

As far as the card that brought all this up, look no further than the In Memorium section. Bruce Hood, a hockey referee who died yesterday, has two cards. The English version had a scan with all borders and the company logo cropped off. Somebody noticed the French version had no scan and copied the bad English front scan to that card, and the date shows it happened yesterday. Kind of a crappy way to get a cheap two points on the day a guy died.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Actually only got 1 point for a front scan but yes, pitiful to copy a dreadful scan into another location.
