I am running into a college team naming issue. One of the college sets does not have a collece team name associted with the college the player went to. Specifically Ken Anderson (Bengals) went to Augustana College (Illinois), nickname Vikings. So would it be Augustana College Vikings, Augustana Vikings, Augustana (Illi). I know of another college locally that has had a couple of players make it to the pros (no cards as of yet). They are the Augustana University Vikings, which could mimic some of the other options. I did not see any real naming convention guidelines. From the veterans on the site, what should the name be??

Yes, it can be confusing if you leave out the type of school.  Augustana University in South Dakota are Vikings and Augustana College in Illinois are also Vikings. 

I'd use Augustana College Vikings and Augustana University Vikings as the two names.  No need to worry about the States they're located in.

I agree with C2.  Just have to cross our collective fingers that Augustana College doesn't decide one day to offer masters programs and become Augustana University.  A college in my hometown did just that.

If they actually did would there be some sort of conscious effort to differentiate itself from the "other" Augustana University? I mean, Miami University (Ohio) and University of Miami (Florida) both exist...was the second one careful to take the opposite moniker of the original one ( _ University vs. University of _ )?

As a place holder I did the Augustana College Vikings, but then I looked at Miami, which has the Hurricanes in Florida and Miami, which has the RedHawks in Ohio. In the Database it is listed as Miami Hurricanes and Miami Ohio RedHawks, so that was where I was questioing the state. At this point I going to go with what C2 & OC are agreeing on and go that route. 

Thanks for the comments, I find it easier to ask and do it right than to have to correct at a later time.

Little late to the party, but I would agree with the above two, for two different reasons.

1) Anyone editing teams should be careful enough to note the difference (Augustana College vs Augustana University), as you have.

2) Anyone searching the Database for cards of either one should be well aware of if they're looking for College or University.

Based on those two reasons alone, I'd say that the state differentiator isn't needed at this time, but rather just the school names.

Difference is both Miami schools are universities.  And they both go by their city's name.

You can double-check with Admin and see if they have a preference.
