I picked up some laminate proof cards. I have never seen these and found them interesting, but could find no listing here or any information. They are all Topps 1996 football product. Any help would be appreciated.

The only 1996 Topps football laminate cards I could find is ONE seller (leximo2) on ebay. No other reference, anywhere. Then I did a search for just "Topps laminate" on ebay and got only ONE seller (leximo2). I suspect they may be "homemade" by this ebay seller or they have a monopoly on the product.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

leximo is "famous" for having "uncut proofs" from various companies. I have bought several (they are kinda cool, when cheap). I o believe most of these products are backdoored items.

Yeah, I think Leximo is legit. I've bought from him before and he's told me they were stuff he's gotten from legit sources (bankruptcies, backdoor, etc). Still, they are pretty much just interesting oddities that I wouldn't consider as part of the database.

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

That is who I got them from. Did not know if we were allowed to call out sellers? He stated that they were part of the card production process, which I thought was pretty cool. Anyway, I wondered if anyone has had experience with them. Thanks so much for the investigation, I feel more comfortable that these are a non-listable item and more of a novelty. Thanks.

Aren't most of those just cards someone has soaked and pulled the paper off the back?

That's exactly what they look like to me. The top plastic laminate layer of "chrome-type" cards. Whether they were stolen (backdoored) from Topps or he made them himself; I don't think they should be listed here.
