Hi,

Just found out by coincidence that I was wrong, it should be like the left one which I took from an Ebay seller for comparison. The scan on the right is my card. Actually all the RC's from this set have serials and mine hasn't. It doesn't even have the left side 'box' to print the serial. Everything else looks the same. Is there a parallel set not yet on this site? A production mistake?

I'm puzzled :P
 

Did you pull this from a pack?  They didn't imprint the serial number directly on the cards.  They used a type of label.

There's a lot of problems with Fleer products around the bankruptcy timeframe.

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't aware of this so this article may well explain what's going on here. If they used a label it may have come off ... but I see no trace of that. The card surface is perfectly smooth.

Got it from a bulk card priority box purchase on Ebay to start off my collection. The seller threw in a couple bonus memorabilia cards including this one.

The serial number label was probably never put on. If it is from the bankruptcy sale, the card was probably replacement stock.

It also could have missed getting its serial number and sent out in a pack that way.

Whichever the reason, I like the card as it is, as well as the fact that it carries a little extra history/mystery with it.

The SN cannot come off, it's part of the card. It was never applied. Most likely this was held by Fleer as a damaged card replacement that got out when they went under, but it's also possible that it was packed out with the SN missing. I did pull at least one card myself with the number stamp partly missing. May have been more...with more than 4000 SN cards I can't remember the details of all of them.
