So here is the deal, I uploaded this card today and noticed a few things that I need to be schooled on. First off I have sent Admin a notice to the incorrect card numbering but that in its own right can be confusing as ITG lists it as something differnt than the card itself. The card would be the definitive answer you would think and so far that has been the case with any messages I have sent in. Now is this a JSY card or a MEM card?? There are so many terms that can be used in the glossary that too is confusing. Thirdly the card is listed as 2004-05 In The Game Franchises Canadian - Goalie Gear and has a gold parallel, but as you can see by the card back it plainly states this is the silver edition, should that not be listed somehow on here as well, or do we igonre the Silver designation since there appears tto be only the two versions? They make these cards VERY hard to enter and I would imagine make the Admin want to pull his hair out!! Thanks again and please help teach this self appointed goober the proper way to do it!!

I usually reference other members entries in situations like these... unfortunately, you are the only one to have entered a scan. My Beckett reference comes up with 70 complete sets for the Goalie gear inserts, 20 gold, and 10 autographed. That means there are only 3 variations and you have placed your card in the correct category. It's not gold, not autographed, that leaves one option :)
Sorry, my original post was incorrect. 100 sets of Golie gear inserts including the two variations.

ITG is usually silver/gold color-wise, silver being the "base" so-to-speak. As for the glossary terms, I believe "memorabilia" is a general term. Some sets have jerseys, sticks, pads, patches, etc. In a set where there are multiple types of memorabilia, I believe they distinguish which type of card it is within that set - JSY, STK, etc. I would say you have a MEM card that is a JSY. Sometimes the manupactured patches, like the kind they had in the newer OPC Premier would go under MEM. They're not JSY cards, but MEM cards. Just my take on this....ITG can be a bit confusing, especially since they rarely number their cards, and have 2 or more parallels whereas if you don't see one, you might not know how it compares to the others.

The database guidelines http://www.tradingcarddb.com/Permissions.cfm?MODE=Level4&ACTION=Review show both JSY and MEM as examples of attribute abbreviations. Also, a card can have multiple attributes. So it wouldn't hurt to annotate it as such: MEM, JSY. Also, I've seen triple MEM cards with pieces of glove, bat, and jersey on the same card. And would annotate them all three attributes.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Thanks for the tips guys, C2C .... anotherwords MEM denotes it has something on it, then follow it up with the specifics ..... makes sense to me. So some would be (as an example) MEM, JSY, AU, SN100. If that seems right to everyone that is how I will proceed.

Seems like having both MEM and JSY is overkill and might lead someone to believe that it's a dual jersey or has more than one swatch on it or something. Either go with MEM, or JSY if you want to be more specific.

LOL, this is actually why I like this place, everyone gets a voice. Sounds like it might be best for good ol' Admin to give a bit of advice ............... =)

As an actual cataloging librarian with a master's degree, I'd love to get my hands on the glossary, college names, etc and clean them all up to create actual Authority Records. It's kind of a mess.
Examples:
- the glossary has at least two different abbreviations for "manager" - "MG" and "MGR"
- "AU" and "AUTO" are both listed as codes for "autographed"
- there are a ton of unnecessary code number combinations listed (ex. "JSY29" should be "JSY, SN29")
- colleges - should it be "University of Texas Longhorns" "UT Longhorns" "Texas Longhorns" or something without the mascot altogether?
Just my 2cents, but I think the glossary could use a good scrubbing and some better authority rules created to assist in in note labelling and abbreviation creation.

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

It almosts seems like it could use an overhaul, it would be really nice if there was a drop down screen or something that the owners of the site could create so that you can only choose what has been determined as a proper glossary term. A simple click on each of the applicable terms and boom your done. For example, if you choose MEM from the list, then you can choose from a list of appropriate terms to go with it, like JSY, STK, BAT, etc. I am sure there are plenty of dreamy senarios we can all come up with that would just be awesome but time and money always deternine such advances. For now just a good ol clarification from the big wigs would make me happy. At least that way we have been directed to do it the way the builders intended.
