Oversized Sports Illustrated for Kids cards?

While the standard size SI for Kids cards have been issued consistently from 1989 or so, in the mid-90s they did a secondary set of oversized cards- not as tall as the Topps "tall boy" issues of the late 60s, but taller and wider than a regular card. There were 4 per issue, and were apparently themed by issue- this example here is 1996-97 NBA Rookies, but I also have Olympians, 1996 Presidential and VP candidates in athletics, Soccer stars and some others.

Based on the numbers they likely would have started late 1994 or early 1995. I don't think they were in every issue, or if they didn't have any basketball or NASCAR people I left them in my magazines. This is the only set I have that I can find that are still in a unit- I seperated most of my SI for Kids cards.

Does anyone know what the larger set is called, and have checklists that can be posted to the Database? Thanks! (I

If this is the set that says "LEGENDS" across the top, the Standard Catalog says they were issued from 1996-1998 on a sporadic basis, but I think they started in 1995 with the Olympic cards.

Great research! Thank you! I always thought they were likely called Legends, because about half the ones I have have it across the top. If we could find out who #3 is we could get them posted to the Database (without the sport designators so they connect to the pre-existing listings, naturally)...I've already got all mine scanned and ready to go.

Going by this list, scroll towards the bottom and you'll see-

Owens, Jesse  running/track & field  Olympic Hall of Fame - 03    1995    07 (Jul)

My guess is that card #3 in this set is Jesse Owens. I've never seen these cards, but I've checked this site out before and it seems pretty accurate.

Why do #s61-68 have the word "Leaders" and not "legends" as part of the name field? The cards that I have in that range say "Legends". Thanks
