Hey there peeps, long time no hobby, bah ...... trying to get a little relaxation in while I deal with my first cold of the season .... or is that sneeze-on, lol. Anyways the image above shows that the card does not have a number on the back, how should this subset be numbered on the DB, it is listed as #1 through #5 right now, but NNO would be more accurate you would think, or do we use the ultimate number that is listed on the card case at the top, any info would be appreciated.

The card itself has no number, so NNO. To me, its no different than an encapsulated card from Beckett or PSA.

Is the 04479/10000 a serial number? If so, I find it strange the actual card isn't serial numbered, the plastic case is serial numbered.  I look at this way, the plastic case is not a card. So, if you removed it from its case what would you have? You'd have an NNO card with no serial number.

I see your point, and have no reason to argue it as I say the same in my original post, but then we would run into the issue of the SN24, as it is SN on the case and not the card as well. But at ITG website under the collection information it does state the runs as 5 cards @ 24 each and the gold version as 5 cards @ 1 each. That is the difficulty with these sets, and if my other ITG experiences hold true I do believe they use the Ultimate Number as thier "checklist", each set is combined of that total back number. I have a Ranford 12/13 ITG UM 12th Edition and it is listed the exact same way on the case, so thats 5 years later and they are still doing it the same. Confusing for sure.

More than just confusing, it's crazy! to put all the critical numbers on a label in a plastic case and not on the actual card. Do you know what that 04479/10000 is?

Thoughts that ran through my mind are: the label doesn't give a grade, is it universally accepted as a Gem 10?  What if someone wanted an official grading, how would PSA grade an encapsulated card?  What happens if the case is accidently broken and the card is removed? All important/identifying info is on a separate label not the card.  That's just the way my mind works; looking for all unforseen possibilities.

On a personal note, I don't like graded/encapsulated cards. I'm a tactile person and want to touch the card. And moreover to touch that piece of jersey, stick, glove, etc.  I've bought a few on ebay only because I got them at a fantastic price, e.g., a graded Gil Perrault $100 rookie for $18. I couldn't buy an ungraded for that price. I will try to swap my graded cards for ungraded. If I can't find someone to swap then I bust the card out and put it my binders. I'm never going to sell them so I don't care about preserving the case.  Well, enough of my ramblings. Have a nice day!

LOL, I agree 100% ..... I hate having to purchase these encased cards, to date my collection consists of four of thm, with one more on the way, all ITG UM cards. I personally love putting them into my binders as well and the like then I have these lumps of plastic sitting on a ledge with a slip of paper in its sheet slot expalining what should be there and why. UGH but when collecting a specific person those are the things we deal with. If anyone else has any ideas on how to list these please dont hesitate to chime in. =D

IMO the card should be listed as NNO. As for the

Do you know what that 04479/10000 is? That is the total print run of 10000 and this is the 4479 enclosed.

I wonder if admin would be the best to answer the question because the card is a NNO as per the regular guidelines, but then 4479 technically (IMO) would be as well; but who would ever truely know the numbering of the rest of the run, could be sequential maybe not. Probably will never ever know and for that reason you would have to fall back to the NNO. LOL ..... That noise you hear is my brain popping. Admin you have a second or two? =)

The Ultimate Memorabilia numbering is awful. That 4479/10000 is actually a unique number - there were only 10,000 cards produced for the entire series, all total. As for that Housely/Ranford card, there are 24 of those (this one is serial number 04/24). I have a few of the cards from the first two series. No traditional card numbers.
