While uploading images yesterday, I came across another UER. Wrong first name on the back of the card. It amazes me such an obvious error has gone undetected/unreported for 22 years. I couldn't find it listed anywhere. Even more amazing is COMC.com has the card listed as Greg Wisniewski.

Nice catch. First off maybe it had gone unoticed for so long is it is difficult to read the white letters of "Steve" on a light gray almost white background. 

My first thought was it might have been people thought it was a nickname or his real name. Many Topps cards from the seventies have the name the player is known by on the front and then on the back had their full real or given name. Maybe most thought this was the case? Going by ones middle name is very common. IN this case however, he doesn't appear to have or go by a middle name.

Yeah, the "white letters on front" plus the vertical/perpendicular name on the back. Your eyes don't catch it unless you rotate the card to read the name. And who would do that when all the other text and picture are in a different direction.

Now I've got to read all my other cards.

Don't forget, COMC just re-did their entire checklisting by group-sourcing it. If 10 people gave the name Greg and 2 actually got it right with Steve, Greg it is. They should have had only "experts" in the areas work on those areas, but they allowed anyone to "help" anywhere.
