Card Identification Forum

     I beleive that I should quit looking at my cards and discovering the differences. According to Beckett and TCDB the card on the left side is the # 27 in the 1991 Impel US Olympic Hall of Fame set. There is no variation or promo or anything else listed. If I am not blind the picture of Mary Lou on the right side is different than the one on the left of the rear of the card. Can anyone tell me what the card on the right is?  Thanks.

That set is listed here on the site, and it has one other variation listed.  Apparently the Charles Daniels card also had versions with different pictures on the back, and the site has them listed as variations (40a and 40b).  So most likely this card would be the same.  Based on the pictures you posted, it actually looks like there is a slight difference in the darkness of the cards, and the quality of the textures in the borders, which would make me think that there probably were a few promos, and my guess is that one of the Charles Daniels cards would be in the same boat as a promo, but I don't have any cards from this set so I'm not completely sure.

I have a box of this set (factory sealed) that I have been saving to open during the Olympics this year. I can update which versions came out of packs in about a month and a half.

I have the list of promos for this set, it's not a known one of them. Not to say there couldn't be more.

It could possibly be a variation from the Coke promotion they did at the time. Supposedly the entire set was issued in 3 card cello packs with 12 packs of Coke products.

Also these had a hobby, and a retail printing, so variations could have resulted from that as well.
