         This card looks alot like the 1983 TMCA All Time Pittsburgh Pirates Red Frame except for on the front the box around the picture is black not red. On the back the back ground is brown not white. Is this a variation, promo, parallel, a reprint or a fake? Does anyone have any idea about this card?

Not an expert but I would guess it is a promo since I saw two different versions one with a face pic as shown and one with a pitching pose.

I think it was just different print runs or maybe different, distribution or maybe different printing location. I don't think it is a reprint, unless they TCMA was in the habbit of not adjusting their copyright lines for reprints. Both sets are in the database

I've got the blue frame set if I recall correctly.

"Elroy Face" sounds like a disease. Or maybe a medical condition where you look like you've been smacked in the face with a shovel.

"Dang! That guy has a serious case of Elroy Face! No wonder children run away screaming when he walks in the room."

I suspect this is part of the batch of reprints TCMA did around 1987 for inclusion with collecting kits.

As a kid in 1959, I was amazed by Face's record of 18-1 that year, as a reliever.   Everyone should know this and that's why I am writing this.
