Card Identification Forum

Does anyone know anything about this card? I can't find a checklist on TCDB and I found very little reference to it anywhere else. I'm looking for a checklist. This is the only card from the set that I have. I believe they were manufactured by the same company that produces Tuff Stuff and Sports Collector's Digest.

I think I answered my own question but raised some new issues in the process. The card is part of an insert set that was included with Baseball Card Magazine. The problem I found is with the 1987 and 1988 checklists on TCDB. The 1988 checklist contains the cards of Jack Clark and Kirk Gibson(http://bit.ly/2r7xJga). Both of those cards have a 1987 copyright on the card. Neither player is listed on the 1987 checklist.(http://bit.ly/2s62vmU).

It looks like DaClyde did most of the work on the two sets and I will defer to much-greater-than-mine knowledge of the hobby, but I have a lot of cards from the '87, '88, and '89 sets and I'd like to be clear on the checklists before I catolog my collection and upload scans.

Can anyone clarify?

Not sure about these, but please remember that copyright dates on many cards that are Issue Year XXXX are copyright date XXXX-1.

thanks vrooomed. I guess I'll just upload them as they are listed here. I know that different cards were include with each monthly issue of Baseball Card Magazine. I was hoping that somebody new which cards were include in each monthly issue. Comparing what I have to the checklists I have seen, I think the two cards I mentioned earlier were included in a 1987 publication (I'm not sure wich month).

I have the June 1988 issue the Sam Horn and Joey Meyer cards came with, so I know those are correct.  I don't have the August 1988 issue that included the Gibson and Clark, but there are plenty of copies on eBay showing the inserts with that issue (with Bobby Bonilla on the cover).  It is odd that those cards have the 1987 copyright on them.  Perhaps they were intended for a 1987 issue but didn't make the cut, so they re-purposed them later.

I found checklists for all the cards in the 2010 Vintage Baseball Digest. You were 100% correct on the checklists according to the Digest. The digest also list the month that each card was published. Thanks for your work on these sets. Vrooomed was correct in pointing out that the copyright and year of publication don't always match.
