Card Identification Forum

Seem to be running into a few strange ones this evening.  Here is the latest.  I have this Donruss Elite Promo card in my collection and I have it listed in my personal database as a  1998-99, but cannot seem to locate it anywhere on the site.  It has 1998 copyright on the back.  Anyone stumble across anything like this?  Thanks in advance for any info!

Donruss used to issue promos like this all the time. I have several Yzerman ones, although eventually, he went exclusive to UD - but in the late 90s. These should be added as they are discovered.

They released them for an upcoming 1998-99 Donruss Elite set. However, they went out of business that year. A checklist can be found on Beckett. The checklist should be added to the promo section for that year.

Allow me to add - this may have been issued before they wound up not issuing cards in 98-99.

I have the Selanne one of those. They were listed in the Beckett Annual edition. There were apparently a lot less than /2500 on the secondary market, so they do have collectible value. They were supposed to come out before Donruss went out of business - as SunDevil said.

So these Promos are kind of Donruss's last gasp of breath, sad really as those are nice looking cards. I hate seeing the death of any card brand as we all know where that has landed us. >(
