While I prefer the Xfinity series over the Monster series, just curious if anyone else is excited for the Daytona 500? Yesterday saw an amazing finish in the Xfinity race, multiple overtimes, going 50 extra miles, and the closest finish ever. I can't wait to see what happens today. I'm not sure who to root for, but I hope its a younger driver as they need to be the focus to gain new fans. I'll just say I'm rooting for Chase Elliott.

I’m pumped. Guess I’m rooting for Hamlin and Bubba Wallace. Anybody but Johnson, Keslowski, and Logano.

Well, that was an interesting race, though Fox was terrible with so many commercials in the last 50 laps. I know they have to get them in, but they could have added them mid race. As for the race though, I'm glad a young gun won. You can tell though Austin learned a lot from Dale Sr. I felt bad for Aric Almirola though. I also felt bad for Danica, I hope she has better success at the Indy 500.

Taking my wife to her first ever Daytona 500 in 1981 is the majority of the reason that we stopped watching NASCAR. I TIVO'd the race today and when we got home we watched it in fast forward.

The 2001 race is the race where Earnhardt Sr. died. My favorite racer, Edwards, retired a few years ago, but I think I picked up a new favorite in Bubba Wallace.

Why did I type in 1981. I meant to type 2001.
My wife was a big Earnhardt fan to the point that she was upset about Dillon winning in the 3 car today.

I have to admit that I have gotten a little jaded with the sport. I mean even to the point that I dreaded it every week late last year, from taking me away from watching hockey and basketball. But I am really energized from this whole speedweeks. I enjoyed every moment of it, and I can't wait for Atlanta next week. Darrell Wallace Jr has played a large roll with that. His personality is phenomenal. And the driving skill...in a team that hasn't really been a contender since the 1990s...to race as he did today, and place where he did...incredible! I've been a fan of his since day 1, and now I'm glad other people are seeing what I saw.

I would agree that NASCAR needs to push the younger drivers. My reason being, you guys named several current young guys, and I'm not sure I had heard of any of them. I don't watch NASCAR at all, ever, but when NASCAR was peaking in popularity, I was aware of the names of the main drivers. Seems like lots of drivers used to be in commercials, but I don't notice that anymore, other than Dale Jr who has one out right now with the dude from that one tv show.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
