I am sobbing. our last chance for Canada wiped off the map. First the Canadians lose to the US for bronze and now the Jets. =(
I am in the non-loving Vegas group. They are a good team for sure but IMO this makes the NHL look bad. Plain and simple. I pray that Ovie and Holtby get past Stamkos and crew. If not though I will be for sure hoping for TBay as they have the scars to prove they deserve the hardest trophy to win in sport.
Yup I'm grumpy ............. ish!

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Not sure why it would make the NHL look bad. It certainly makes Vegas look good. I love that an expansion team can get to the pinnacle of sport so quickly. I suppose I hated that the Marlins got there so quickly at the expense of my Cubs, but it's great that money doesn't always buy winners. Sorry, but I've always enjoyed the big spenders going down in flames. It's encouraging to believe that anyone has a chance. I'm a Blackhawk fan as far as hockey goes, but since their season was such a bust I'm all in on the Golden Knights. Go Vegas!

My Autograph Collection Website Emphasis is on the 1969 Cubs. This is still a work in progress as is my collection here at TCDB. Value what you collect, don't collect for value.

Great debate for sure, not sure where you work, but for me if the new guy comes in and surpasses you because of stacked odds and then gets the Employee of the Year award, beating you and making you runner up. How would you feel? I'd be pissed. The way I see it was this, Bettman says you give us 500 million and I will make it all but impossible for you to have a bad team. If those same rules were used for Ottawa et al, things could have been different. Florida had Vanbeisbrouck sure but Scott Mellanby was NO William Karlsson. I just feel that the leauge gave Vegas all they could to make them as successful as possible as fast as possible. With football (and how far can baseball be) on its way the NHL will soon be the bottom of the barrel. As I said before what will they do to make it that Bruckheimer lifts a cup over his head in 2020.

After my team gets knocked out (the Wild, in this case), I always just cheer for everyone else to lose in the most painful way possible.
But I'm an even bigger Gophers hockey fan and Erik Haula and Nate Schmidt were two of my favorites. Glad they're finally getting a chance and doing well. Go Knights!

The other teams are as much to blame, if not more, than the NHL. They agreed to some side deals that allowed Vegas to draft better players if they agreed to take bad contracts off their hands. And, as ESPN pointed out, Vegas was loaded with way more Canadian players than the other teams in the semifinals (and only 2 Americans)..

As a Penguins fan there is no way I could root for the Capitals.
25 years since a Canadian team has lifted the cup, once the Pens were out a was kinda rooting for the Jets to end that streak.
Tampa Bay has won before.
I do not want to see a first year team lift the cup even if they are Pittsburgh West.

Bettman says to them, here is your 17,000,000 USD enjoy! ............. plus this will increase the income for the small-market teams, plus the chance to dump salaries, etc. The rules for the "dance" were all created by Bettman and his pocket Governors. Rules like the bad contracts and so on were not allowed before and that is what I meant. Also, "if" Seattle gets a team they are exempt from the next Expansion draft, moot I would say because even if they DO lose the final they are obviously a better team than most, at least that is what everyone says. So hopefully the mothering by the NHL will end abruptly. It will be interesting next season that is for sure. =)

Once the Flightless Birdies got the heave-ho from the Capitals, I am 100% behind the Vegas Marc-Andre Fleurys!
