This is truely an excellent debate. I stand with vrooomed and OCHawkeye on this as I do believe I said "Give us 500 million and I will make it all but impossible for you to have a bad team." I did not say anything that isnt true. I do not hate the VGN at all, just frustrated that this is where we are at in the NHL that a first year team is in the finals. I will extend my hand to any Vegas fan and congratulate them loudly but as an NHL guy my entire life (well 14 yo actually) I know the league pretty well and trust me this team was made for success. IMO it was NHL simply making a billionaire happy. Let's see what happens this summer when the rubber stamp Seattle and they announce the expansion draft rules for those two billionaires. No disrespect Billy ...... remember who's on my team and we all pointed and laughed at them this year .... me included. DOH

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

I am a major caps fan and the thing that frustrates me is the fact that I have never seen the caps in the finals ever but Vegas fans get to see all that stuff in their first season

I believe that Fleury is using what happened to him in Pittsburgh last year as motivation to prove Sullivan wrong. Although he took the high road on his way out of town because he's a class act, deep down inside I just know he had to feel insulted by the fact that right in the prime of his HOF caliber career he had the rug pulled out from under his feet by having his job handed over on a silver platter to a kid with a subpar glove hand who the coach seems to be in love with.

They couldn't keep both of them. So do you go wth the guy who cost more and has had some bad playoff series, or the guy who has a 22-9 playoff record and is 10 years younger?
I would have gone with Murray also.

I hoping Washington wins tonight Be nice to have 2 first time players for the cup.
I wonder if Finals going to be bet on in NJ in the sports books as some places are almost ready to take bets., by end of month.
I also remember year Capitals held a telethon so to sell season tickets. If a minium wasn't sold the owner was going to move the team. Some Phila. Flyers appeared on it encouraging fans to buy in. Why? It was a road game they went to on bus and when over they came back to Philly that night.

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

You're giving away your young age. They lost the finals in 4 straight to Detroit 20 years ago in 1998.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I too am hoping for a Caps win. They are the only Hockey team I collect other than pre-1980 vintage and occasional sets that catch my eye. Well that was until Vegas started this season I started to collect their inaugural year cards. I have the Upper Deck RC of Dylan Ferguson, a fold out team schedule. I have incoming the Upper Deck Team set minus the 3 RCs (Ferguson, Tuch and Lagace).
BTW this would be the 2nd time the Caps would vie for the Cup. In 1998 they were swept by the Red Wings.
If the Caps beat the Lightning tonight obviously I will be rooting for my homies on ice for the Cup. However if they lose to da Lightning I'm rooting for the Golden Knights. Either way it is a super big game for my Caps. They win and the fanbase goes nuts and is excited for the Cup Finals. They lose and fans grumble and groan about their constant choking.
When the NHL starts the next expansion team (Seattle?) I might collect their inaugural cards, then again I might not.

I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies). Aww the trips I made down to Landover to watch the caps play. Either against the Flyers, Penguins, or Black Hawks and any other team where low upper bowl seats where available when we called or went to Tictetron. The look me and a buddy got when we asked an agent in Philly area to look up for tickets in Washington, D.C.
And that old place GOT LOUD, Really LOUD.
I saw a Peguins fan loose a fight to a Caps fan. In 1st period too. Pittsburgh took 6 shots and scored 4 times. On a later rush into Caps defensive zone he yelled" Shot it you'll score" That is when girl lost it.
