Just to show all you people that summer is actually a thing up here in Canada ...... I updated my profile pic ..... that beast touched down about three hours from home. YIKES. Got storms rolling through here all weekend, suppose to keep a coming right through til Monday.

Y'all be safe up there. I played college ball with a couple of Canucks and hold the entire country close to my heart. 

From Buffalo I can walk to Canada.  I love the country and I guess I never realized you had storms like that.  Shows what I know.  Keep watch and stay safe.

We had one on Wednesday here in NY. IIRC, Billy took some good pics. Thankfully, this was all about 5-10 miles north of my house.

Yeah, muskie027, from what I've heard, parts of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta are similar to the midwest here in the states.  Which makes sense, since they're considered part of the "Great Plains", which has long been known as Tornado Alley.

This tornado, the one Dan mentioned, touched down within walking distance of my house! I lifted this picture from Hudson Valley News Network.

I will be at this very spot later today as the airpost is hosting it's annual car and plane show today! it was an F1, which is unusual. We do get them occasionally but always F0s.

This is a photo of the wall cloud I took out my front door. The Tornado was not visible from my house due to the trees, but I would have been one of those people you see on the Weather Channel taking photos and videos if I could have seen it. The sky had been blue and sunny less than 10 minutes previously. The area that looks white at the bottom is actually still blue and sunny, but not well captured by my smart phone.

That was a little too close for comfort. And the weird thing is, circa 1996, my mom saw a tornado in pretty much the exact same place.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in this tornado. Hope no one was in yours either!

Wow Billy that is getting close. We have had twisters here for as long as there's been wind!! LOL Just alot of people forget that we can have some pretty deadly storms up here. Regina, SK at the turn of the century (1905ish) Edmonton, AB (1987ish) even right here in good old Lloydminster AB/SK (1984). Won't bore you anymore other than to agree with Celticwolfco, we are at the northern end of Canada's tornado alley, from Calgary in the south, it heads northwest right past us and up as far north as Prince Albert. It looks like a huge lopsided upside down triangle. Manitoba and Ontario get all the remenants from the US plains and that is saying it nicely.

Yeah, definitely not Winter here in Phoenix either. Past couple days getting in my black car after work my face has been cooking. AC won't even cool down enough to put the windows up until halfway home. 

BUT... I'll take this anyday over a tornado barreling down my street. Stay safe all of you up north. 

We've had a few tornadoes in the past week here in NC, USA as well. The nearest one to me was 2-3 counties west of me on Monday (no more than an hour or two drive from home). It trekked through 3 counties in NC and finally dissipated shortly after crossing into Virginia pretty close to Martinsville. It was an EF1 with winds nearing 125 MPH. Luckily, it mostly went through rural areas and state-park land and it passed in-between two mountains that kept it from getting stronger. Sampson County in southeast NC got hit with 2 tornadoes in 3 days and mostly in the same part of the county. Most tornadoes in NC are relatively small or weak, but our season is pretty long. Strong weather fronts coming from the southwest (where they go south of the end of the Appalachian Mountains) and hurricanes coming from the southeast are the main creators of tornadoes here.

Hopefully the injuries have been minor and few!  I am very fortunate to live in an area where tornadoes aren't a thing.  In Eastern Washington (the mountainous part, SE) we can get some pretty funky thunderstorms, but I can count on one hand the number of funnel clouds that have actually touched down on my side of the state in my lifetime.  Although, with one of the ones we did have, I was on the outskirts of it.  Back in 1994 I was working harvest for my uncle in the small town of Garfield, WA.  There was a tornado that touched down a few miles south of town, and even with all the hills actually made it to town, through town and disipated just north of town.  It did an estimated $2 million in damages, which is a whole lot for a town of just 500.  The real damage was on the outskirts where I was though.  The areas around the tornado suffered over $1 billion in damages from hale and wind.  At my uncles house we had hale coming down at over 100 mph.  We saw several cars out on the highway get smashed to pieces.  Fortunately, one person was smart enough to come to my uncle's house and ask if he could park in the barn that he noticed was big enough and empty.  He had a big hole in his windshield, but he was able to drive away from it.  4 cars on the highway were damaged enough they had to be towed, and that was just within the half mile of road we could see from where we were.

I have mixed feelings whenever I'm in an area with weather like this.  I'm, a bit of a thrill seeker, so I love being around it, and sometimes chasing it, but at the same time, I have a very healty respect for how dangerous and deadly it can be, so I'm kind of a hesitant storm chaser, lol.
