Another death. 95 years old.

I was surprised to learn he was still alive.   95,  quite a life.

I was in the same boat.  I was sad to learn he died, but was shocked in that I thought he passed away ages ago.  The boxing greats always remind me of my grandfather and better times.  Every big fight we would go to his house and watch.  He and his brother would talk about the old timers (Dempsey, Louis, and a bunch of others only those that follow boxing would know).  They loved Rocky Marciano too.  I smile to remember those days now that my grandfather is gone and in a way, so is boxing.  That is another conversation, but LaMotta just reminds me of these times.

Was this the Raging Bull guy I heard them talking about on the radio this afternoon. I have heard of the movie by that name with deNiro correct? Never seen it and know nothing about him but 95 for a boxer is an amazing lifespan.

Yeah, he's the Raging Bull. Great movie about a great boxer who was a less-than-great person.  Just saw it again at a theatre this summer during a Scorsese Film Festival. Joe Pesci at his best. And DeNiro does play the title role.

One of the recent wrestler deaths gave me that same deja vu "I thought he was already dead" vibe.
