Should Utley be a HOFer? YES! Will Utley get in? Not likely. Here is a breakdown on why Utley should be in the Hall of Fame.

If you look at the "sexy" hitting stats, he is pretty pedestrian.

Now if you look at the sabermetric JAWS (Jaffe WAR Score System), Utley ranks 11th among all 2nd baseman in the history of MLB. Hall of Fame 2nd baseman that rank ahead of Utley are: #1 Rogers Hornsby #2 Eddie Collins #3 Nap Lajoie #4 Joe Morgan #5 Charlie Gehringer #6 Rod Carew #9 Frankie Frisch and #10 Ryne Sandberg.

Now here is the list of 2nd baseman that are ranked ahead of Utley that are NOT in the Hall of Fame: #7 Bobby Grich and #8 Robinson Cano (will be a HOFer).

Can’t compare just one stat, especially between a second baseman and a first baseman. 

Uggla + Utley = Ugly

Only 5 "good" seasons in that loaded Phillies lineup.  Avg season    29 HR, 101 RBI 110 R 15 SB from 2005 through 2009.  Now, had he not had injury shortened seasons in 2010-2012, and he put those same numbers up, he would get more consideration only.  Don't think there is a chance for Chase.
