Ian Kinsler Forum

Does anyone have a checklist for 2004 Spokane Indians team set relased by Grandstand?  I have an Ian Kinsler card from the set I want to add a scan of to the database but I can't find a complete checklist, only a few here or there.

 I checked on sportscardforum.com. According to that site, Ian Kinsler was on the 2003 Spokane Indians. In 2004 he was on the Clinton LumberKings. I found his 2004 all star card pictured with the LumberKings at COMC. Sportscardforum has loads of checklists. I supply the Reds minor league checklists as I get them each year if needed. PS Both sets are made by Grandstand.

 As I added most of the modern minor league sets to the SCF system, I can tell you that if you see a checklist alphabetized, either A) the set is unnumbered or B) I couldn't find the card numbers when I added the set.  So there is a good chance the numbering is incorrect on most Grandstand and Multi-Ad sets.  That's one of the reasons I requested the ability to edit card numbers, so I could correct sets like this.  Fortunately, now there are a lot of recent minor league sets on COMC, so card numbers are visible.  I'll clean up the numbers for the Spokane set and get it added here.

Ok, the checklist has been added, but it will need some corrections down the road.  There are 32 cards in the set, but COMC only had 21 of them, so 11 cards are lacking card numbers.  It appears Grandstand used uniform numbers in place of card numbers (though they got Dave Chavarria's number wrong based on the photo).

 I'm going to add a lot of place holders for missing minor league sets today.  At least that way they show up in the Missing Checklists To-Do list.

COMC is where I got the card, but never thought about looking again (I was a bit out of it last night).  I also feel bad because I already started a thread about it a few months ago, I could have just bumped that thread.

 Using the uniform numbers to sequence the cards is a common practice among the team issue type cards such as Fire Safety giveaways at ball parks.  When you open the pack, the order they are in is by jersey number.  Yet many of the sets entered in the database are entered alphabetically and given sequential numbers beginning at #1 when the cards actually don't have a number other than the jersey number.  I wish they could all be corrected to either NNO or, better yet, the jersey number as they were issued.
