2016 Topps Garbage Pail Kids American As Apple Pie In Your Face Non-Sport Forum

Anybody care to add the checklist for this set?  I saw it on another site, but the numbering seems confusing as heck.  50 cards a and b, then 5-6 more subsets also with a and b (but also numbered 1a and 1b, so like 7 different 1a 1b).  Unless they are to be added as insert sets, but I think they are all part of the base set.

I never buy GPK cards, but was hoping to pull a presidential one or two, so I tried my luck.  Came up short, but maybe I'll get another pack one day.

Yes, that's how they're numbered. The set is divided into subsets (not inserts). Each subset starts with 1a, 1b, etc. The previous sets are listed numerically by subset, not all 1a grouped together, not all 1b grouped together, etc. And yes they actually use 1a, 1b on the cards. Those little letters are gonna drive some of our members crazy...lol.

AS C2Cigars said that is the way they are numbered. I still have many of the original GPK stickers/cards from the 1980s. Need to complete those sets some century. They had the "set" divided into two "subsets" an "a" set and a "b" set. Back then it was because they used the same image for two different stickers but changed the name of the Kid. For instance for the original GPK the cover kid card where the boy is sitting down with a video game joystick in his hand and his head blowing up in a mushroom cloud is card number 8a and 8b. 8a the name is "Adam Bomb" and 8b the name is "Blasted Billy".

The database needs to be checked as I see many of the numbers just repeat one name.

I don't know if you guys will get a notification or not but I just added the checklist for this set.

Some of the earlier sets even have an "aa" and a "bb" due to a different back on some of them.   A very royal mess.
 

I don't agree with the current checklist for this set, but understand why people may have thought it would go that way.  I don't have the permission level to fix it, but noticed this old forum discussing the same topic.  

GPK began a new numbering system in 2015 with their "30th Anniversary" themed series, which included 220-total cards divided into 12 subsets that each began with a #1/b.  That new numbering system continued in 2016 with the "American as Apple Pie in your Face" themed series, which also included 220-total cards, but divided into only 9 subsets that each began with #1a/b.  

This new numbering system has continued with subsequent releases "Prime Slime Trashy TV" in 10/2016 and "Adam-geddon" in 1/2017.  I wrote the checklists for both of those, and believe that the "American as Apple Pie in your Face" checklist should resemble those two checklists.

The total number of cards in the base set should be 220 (not 84), which would match the size of the GPK released just prior (30th Anniversary in 7/2015), and the GPK set released just after (Prime Slime Trashy TV in 10/2016).  Cards that are currently being listed as insert sets should actually be listed in the base set.      

The 9 subsets that combine to form the complete 220-card set in the "American as Apple Pie in your Face" release, in order, should be:

*American as Apple Pie #1-a/b to #42-a/b

*Americana Swept under the Rug #1-a/b to #9-a/b

*Americana Devolved #1-a/b to #9-a/b

*2016 Presidential Candidates #1-a/b to #5-a/b

*American Icons #1-a/b to #9-a/b

*American Inventors #1-a/b to #9-a/b

*U.S. Historical Event #1-a/b to #9-a/b

*America's Pasttimes #1-a/b to #9-a/b

*2016 U.S. Summer Olym-Picks #1-a/b to #9-a/b 

None of these subset should be considered inserts as they currently are.  Your set is not complete without these cards.  There are other inserts that are part of this set, but these are not it.  I have informed admin about this.
