I bought a lot of 2015-16 Threads Baskeball retail packs (10 cards per pack) from a Hobby Store online on Black Friday. The packs were described as a lot so I figured they were packs that were returned from retail sites. I was not expecting much more than the excitement of opening the packs.
I was not paying detailed attention to the pack wrapper when opening, but what should appear in the middle of the pack but five 1992 Comic Images The McFarlane Era Spider Man cards. There were a total of 11 cards in the pack. Thought that was strange. I was looking a little closer at each pack after that and a few packs later got five 1992 Comic Images Spider-Man 30th Anniversary in the middle of pack. Again a total of 11 cards. I noticed one pack the bottom was not quite sealed and had a partial bar code sticker on it so saved if for last. The pack only had 10 cards but five of the cards were 1977 Topps Minnisota Twins.
Out of 24 packs, 3 packs had different cards than what I was expecting so a little more excitement than I expected. If someone was going through the packs of cards while they were on the retail rack looking for memoribilia cards, why go to trouble of putting old cards in its place and resealing? Two of the packs had the blank white cardboard the thickness of a memoribilia card which I expected. If it was a promotonal event, old Spiderman cards and Minnisota Twins are not exactly what I would think to use to promote basketball cards.
I buy the repackaged boxes with multiple packs but have not seen a different card from what is described on the pack.before. I have not seen any comments about something like this so is it common?
