Does anyone else collect these? I just completed my run of base sets from 1984-1991 with the recent acquisition of the 1985 Bronze set. I'm still missing a couple of Pewter Bonuses, and a 1989 Aluminum Jose Canseco. I have extra 1984 Bronze Base cards and 1988 Aluminum Base cards, as well as some 1987 Pewter Bonus Canseco's and a 1985 Bronze Premium Rose.

Congrats on your base sets.
Personally, I've never had an interest in metal cards. I just don't care for the look or feel of metal cards, especially the monochromatic look.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Short answer NO.
I don't like them. They are simply a reprint of the flagship base cards in a parallel mini-set. I can occasionally see special anniversary "bronze" cards of key HOF player's rookie cards or designs that look like an award or medalian. They remind me of those late night ad shows or Home Shopping Channel "infocommercials" (that was the word I was hunting for) The Franklyn Mint type things that the sales pitch claims they will be a collector's item to cherish that over the years will gain value, except they aren't and they don

I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies). My Trade List is very much a work in progress CaptKirk42s Trading Card Blog Curly W Cards Strive For '65 YouTube klandersen42

Just picked up an Ernie Banks Highland Mint one of these. I like them and my son seemed to really like it.

I need a little help from Admin here.
When I first began listing these sets, I added the Bronze Premiums and Pewter Bonuses as inserts to the 12-card Gallery of Champions base sets. That was wrong. There are no inserts to the Gallery of Champions base sets, and they should all be deleted (I've made multiple requests to no avail).
Instead, there are actually two other separate sets (also identified in Beckett and the Standard Catalog). Those additional sets are:
1983-1991 Topps Gallery of Champions Bronze Premiums (already listed with 9 cards)
1984-1991 Topps Gallery of Champions Pewter Bonuses (keeps getting deleted both times I added it with 8 cards).

I contacted Admin, but I don't think they understand:
1984-1991 Topps Gallery of Champions Pewter Bonuses. Every case of "Topps Tiffany" included one of these Pewter Bonus metal cards per year intended for dealers, not consumers. If we have to treat this set as an insert, then they belong as inserts to Topps Tiffany sets and not Topps Gallery of Champion Aluminum, Bronze, or Silver sets. Only 1 type came out each year for a total of 8 Pewter Bonus metal cards. This will make it difficult for collectors to track on this site though, because the:
1983-1991 Topps Gallery of Champions Bronze Premiums were also somewhat of an insert set. These 9 metal cards were released over a period of 9 years in cases of "Topps Traded" for the first few years, and finally in cases of "Topps Gallery of Champions" during the last few years.
Breaking the sets up like this will require collectors to go to Topps Tiffany, Topps Traded, and Topps Gallery of Champion just to inventory their cards on this site. Also, for the Bronze Premiums that were included in Topps Gallery of Champions cases, will we have to go to the Aluminum, Bronze, or Silver sets to find out were to inventory our metal cards since the same card was probably distributed in all 3 cases.
The simple answer is to treat the Pewter Bonuses as a separate set of 8 metal cards like the price guides do..

I have a Pete Rose #600 of this set but don't see it in the checklist. Googling it, it says that was a deal incentive - maybe the entire set was, I'm not sure. Can Pete Rose be added?

Since it doesn't seem to be a part of the regular set (as the regular set was clearly the award winners the previous season), I have added it as an insert here:
https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/425845/1985-Topps-Gallery-of-Champions-Bronze---Dealer's-Incentive
I also saw that the base set was incorrectly numbered - made up numbers of 1-12 - and I have updated them to be the actual card numbers.
