Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

Please be sure to add the scans of your cards.

Did TOPPS buy these cards or just open the boxes from the years they over printed them?

I have scans for the following. I posted this in a previous post when I couldn't add them. Should the different colored stamps have their own checklist, or should this be added in Note2?
1974 - 459 Cincinnati Reds TC - Bronze stamp
1986 Traded - 35T - Steve Farr (Royals) - Bronze stamp
1987 - 124 - Ray Fontenot (Twins) - Silver stamp
1988 - 433 - Bill Pecota (Royals) - Silver stamp
1988 - 716 - Lenn Sakata (Yankees) - Blue stamp
1989 - 462 - Jose Guzman (Rangers) - Bronze stamp
1990 - 371 - Jimmy Key (Blue Jays) - Bronze stamp
Also, Billy Kingsley pointed out to me that the fella at Shoebox Legends has a huge list of buybacks (click on Don Mossi's ears from 1962 - you can't miss them!). I only see 2 from 2017 so far in his Franken-Set:
537 |
1987 Topps |
Rance Mulliniks |
Toronto Blue Jays |
Third Base |
2017 Topps |
Silver Foil |
705 |
1992 Topps |
Dwight Evans |
Baltimore Orioles |
Outfield/DH |
2017 Topps |
Gold Foil |
He has an extensive list/collection of buybacks from the following sets: 2014 & 2016 Topps, 2008-2016 Topps Heritage, and a large amount from 2015 Topps Update. I also have more scans from some I have from the 2015 Topps Update set. Should we add these to their respective lists?
Thanks!

I have seen some on eBay that were Donruss with the 'Rediscover Topps' buyback stamp. I find that quite humorous, but not surprising from Topps.

As discussed in another thread my stand at the moment; with 40+ years of cards and 5 color variations that would be 200+ separate insert sets. And we do not know if every card came in 5 different variations. Or did Topps look at a card and decide which color it deserves. Does your 1988 Topps #433 Bill Pecota come in all 5 color stamps? Or is it only silver. Was there only one 1988 Topps #433 in the 2017 buyback? Or are there an unknown number of them re-released?

Actually, I was thinking a separate checklist for each color stamp, so 5 checklists in 2017. I think there is an unknown number of inserts and unknown number of versions of each color. I have no idea if #433 1988 Topps was stamped in multiple colors or just one. I have no idea if there are any other #433 1988 Topps in Silver foil stamp even.
I do think this is a great place to try to at least capture/document as many as we can though. What other place is better? Thanks for all the great ideas and help. These buybacks are very slippery!
