A few of you may know that I've been trying to add all of my dupes to my trade/sell list and that I started from the newest sets.
A few of you may also have noticed that I keep getting distracted by and falling in love all over again with "cheap" (I refuse to call them junk anymore) wax/sets.
Some may even know that I have chronic and very painful neuropathy. Recently it's been acting up and I figured I'd entertain myself by looking for the errors I'm missing from this set (1990 Donruss).
During my search, I find an error box on ebay with a BIN of around $17 shipped. Sounds good to me, even though I shouldn't drop a dime.
The box arrived today and I felt well enough to deal with it, because it seems we've finally found a medication that completely stops my neuropathic pain, which I thought was impossible!
Anyway, at least half the box was searched. Searched so obviously that there were wax back cards on top and bottom. At least 5 of the packs had 3 wax back cards and two of those even had torn wrapper stuck in the wax.
Even though it had been searched, even the searched packs were loaded with errors. The more obvious searched packs had the slightly harder to pull (at least they've been to me) errors.
They included the Downing rev. neg., Baines line through star-major league stats and two versions of Ryan errors in the same pack. Also got one Juan Gone rev. neg., 3 Smoltz/Glavine MVP errors.
All of the all star cards were errors. For some reason, the searcher seems to have just been looking for the wrong birthdate cards. There were ZERO versions of McCaskill, Garrelts or Nezelek. There were two CORRECTED Hickey and one CORRECTED Morris, yet there was one ERROR Valdez and all puzzle pieces were first print.
Sorry so long, but I just thought it funny. Can't really figure out what the searcher was doing. Did they open some to see if it was an error box and couldn't stop? Did they decide they wanted to make around $5 and make an error box? Or were they actually just looking for ERRORS of McCaskill, Garrelts, Nezelek, Hickey and Morris?
It was just an oddly nice experience with searched wax.
