I just noticed these on the recently completed galleries list. What a beautiful set of cards! I never knew they existed. Thanks for uploading these scans, cnangle!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I flipped through the set. Great addition to the site. I don't know anything about the set, BUT....
Are we sure that the card labeled as William Henry Harrison is correct? I think that is his grandson, Benjamin Harrison.
Thoughts?

This is a beautiful set of cards. It is definately one of my favorite sets. I've put them on my christmas list....the problem is they are very expensive. Even in un-gradeable condition they sell for over $25...a VG card is $150 and up.
Billy I now understand the non-sport aspect of the hobby. I wasn't interested in non-sports sets until this year and started noticing some of the non-sports sets in the database. As I started researching vintage non-sport my interest in early tobacco cards really took off. Not only are they great sets, but the history behind the cards and the subjects is fascinating.
kcjays...you are correct. It is Benjamin Harrison. The card has been updated. I've uploaded the checklist for several of the N-series cards from the 1880s. Getting the associations right can be difficult and time consuming; especially since I am far from an expert on these cards. Thanks to C2Cigars for helping out with much of the back-end work.
If anyone knows anything about pirates I could sure use some help with the name associations on the "1888 Allen & Ginter Pirates of the Spanish Main" set.

A very nice set yes. I am also a Non-Sports fan. Been so as long as I have been baseball and the other sports. Durning the popular hiatus years from about the mid1990s to early 2000s even though I wasn't really into the sports part of the hobby much I was still non-sporting. Well actually I guess during those years I was "retroing". Just pursuing older stuff and trying to complete sets that have long been unfinished. Most of my sets are still in that status.

I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies). My Trade List is very much a work in progress CaptKirk42s Trading Card Blog Curly W Cards Strive For '65 YouTube klandersen42

COMC doesnt have any of this particular set for sale, but there are a number of other colorful A&G non-sport cards available in the 1887-1889 year range. truly mini masterpieces.

I have quite a few from the Player sets but nothing of any sort from the nineteenth century. Some of the Player sets are cool. Some teach you how to clean out your gutters.
