Yeah, I agree on the college but wanted to be sure...the pro teams is a little less clear. Obviously the team they retired from wouldn't make sense to me (Joe Montana, for example, officially retired as a KC Chief even though everyone associates him with the 49ers). The team that he was inducted as is a better choice IMO, and that would reduce the number of teams to only 2 or 3 at most. The Pro Football HOF, for example, lists DeLamielleure as a member of both the Bills and Browns franchises, but someone like Deion Sanders, who played for 5 different teams during his career, is officially inducted as a member of two (Dallas and Atlanta) while they acknowledge that he played for the others (SF, BAL, WAS) without crediting him as a "primary contributor" to those teams. :Likewise, Montana was inducted only as a 49er.
Baseball would be a little easier since you can just go by the team that the HOF designates as his "Primary Team", although others may prefer to go by the cap in which his plaque pictures him (Reggie Jackson, for example, has a primary team of the Oakland Athletics, but is shown in a Yankees cap). Not sure how the other Halls do it.
Anyway, I fired off an e-mail to Admin hoping to get a definitive answer rather than trying to get a consensus here. When I get a reply, I'll copy it here as well...
