Why are these called 2017 when they are coming out in April 2018?!?!?! Put that effort into a basketball or baseball set, Panini! They are in season. Or call them 2018!!! This is the madness that makes it impossible for me to stick with cataloging my cards. No, I don't have any of these, and won't be buying a box. But I'm still mad about it.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Haha I’m so obsessive about cataloging my cards. They stay in a stack outside of where I keep my boxes until I can mark them down. Still trying to find a checklist for the 2017-18 Panini NBA Player of the Day promo set that came out recently. Got some at a card shop and have nowhere to log them here.

I accept your challenge. I'm unaware of this set. I'm prepared to run out in the streets screaming...

Billy, those came out the following December! And they call the Towns class RCs!!! They had played 1/3 of their 2nd year! And I don't even know what's going on with the buyback autographs with SN written on! If the leagues control the RC logo usage, why do they allow this???

Awesome UKboogie. Thanks! I searched for a few days and found nothing. I also have 2 of the MEM cards, but it looks like that insert is still missing the checklist.

I warned you! What they did with the autographs was take ones they had never packed out for some reason or another, and some Panini Sharpie jockey added a second number to already numbered cards...the players, for the most part, didn't really do anything for this set...they got Dirk to sign a few, and maybe a couple of other guys, but they are few and far between.
it was such a huge failure that Panini actually issued an entire set to send to the people who actually bought them as a "make up gift"...
The base set was also terrible. All the images were black and white except the player's jersey. We live in the 21st century...we can do better! I bought the cheapest card available on COMC just so I could get the set represented into my collection. It ended up being a Mario Hezonja red parallel. I don't intend to chase any more of the set...not that I would turn them down if they were offered to me for free or in trade...but I'm not going to hunt them.
I actually don't have a problem with them issing a set of cards for a previous season. I've long wanted Topps to issue sets from the seasons before 1969-70 that they didn't do, and the 80s, as if they were being done in that year...I've written to Topps several times (back in the days they had the NBA License) but never heard back.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Upper Deck does the same thing for hockey. "2016-17 UD Black" was released in December 2017, almost halfway through the 2017-18 season.

I remember this going on in hockey back in the late 90s, early 00s. The "new" sets were coming out and "old" sets were still being released. Worst part - by the same manufacturer!
