For some of the Topps Traded sets, there are 2 different paper stocks that were used, the brighter one as in the scan of most of these as well as the one seen of card 21T, 35T or 36T. I believe the brighter stock is from factory sets and the darker one is from packs.
Does this warrant two set entries, a possible parallel?

I will entertain trades but please don't offer me a 1993 Dave Stieb for a Nolan Ryan rookie. I prefer player for player (at least similar era and similar stardom).

I've noticed this when sorting before but I never knew the reason behind it. I chalked it up to Topps quality control in the early 90s. I never considered it could be factory sets vs. packs, but that would make sense.

They did this first in 1990 when they re-introduced the Traded set into packs. The factory set was on the white card stock (thinner) while the cards that were packed out were on the same gray paper stock as the 792-card base set. Back then, there was no difference in value between the two. I have extra commons from both sources living together in my commons box solely sorted by card number, not separated by paper type.

Picking up an old thread, at this point should the pack version be considered a parallel? Or would 1 set with 2 variations for each card be more appropriate? My feeling would be variations, but I'm not sure based on the current site guidelines.

1990 and 1991 were the only 2 years where the Traded set was issued in packs on gray/grey stock and in factory sets on white stock.
Conidering they were in different packaging, much like the Tiffany sets, parallel seems to be more consistent with the site's methodology.
If they were released in the same packaging, much like the * and ** variants, then same set as VARs would be in line.

There is also this option, in this case the "Light Backs" are listed as a parallel set and separate.

I could probably buy the already complete sets cheaper somewhere else, but I like getting my maildays.

I'd also like to add for the Factory Sets there were two. The regular boring box and then the one with the shrink wrap too.

Images of both should go into the packaging area.

There are a few other sets where Topps used different color stocks that come to my mind. 1980 Topps Superstar Photos, 1983 & 1984 Send Away All-Star sets, There were a couple years of the All-Star Game glossy inserts, but I don't remember which years. The other I remember is the 1988 Bazooka Set. There may be others.
