I’m just curious, does anyone know the point of this set, why it was made, and what was the difference between it and the standard gold cards?

Regular gold came in packs. Gold winners were some sort of redemption offer. I forget how it worked, but someone else will remember.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

You collected 100 runs from the Match the Stats game cards, sent them in with $2 and you received 10 Winner cards.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Ok, thank you. I had several Tigers winners and had no clue what the difference was. The more you know...

If you held the scratch off cards to a lightbulb you could easily see which spots were the good ones...

I have a few MTS cards, but much too late to turn them in for the Winners, haha.

Am I wrong in this or wasn't it they had the scratch off and you'd get the gold cards, but everyone did the lightbulb trick so they ran or realized the error and they produced the Winners set? I could be wrong, but I thought I heard something like that. I know 92 was the first full year in collecting and got a few of the gold ones, but it was a few years later before I got any Winners cards.
