Should this set be titled "Donruss - Tripple Play" instead of "Tripple Play"
Thanks,
Patrick

~ Patrick Please Please Please read my profile before making a trade proposal. My "wants" for my Cardinals collection is accurate from 1900 - 2008. I still have about 12,000Plus Cardinals cards from 2009-present to sort through and enter. Please do not offer any Cardinals cards from 2008-present unless you contact me first as there is a chance I already have it amongst the multitude to still go through. I still have about 30K Cardinals duplicates that are not yet entered in the database as FS/FT. "For the love of the game"

That's a hot topic and a bit contentious. I'm on the side that it should be called "Donruss Triple Play". Along with "Fleer Ultra", "Topps Stadium Club", "Topps Finest", "Score Select", "Upper Deck SP", "Score Summit", "Pinnacle Zenith"

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I'm agree. Im also confused by the definition of a "Major Releases" and "Odd Ball" Seems some sets are arbitrarily placed in one of the sections depending on who entered the set??? Im a late comer to this site -- not trying to stir the pot - just trying to keep my own set consistent.
After we get this hot and contentious topic taken care of - we can conquer world hunger and world peace! LOL
As always, thanks for the info!

I honestly don't care if it's called "Donruss Triple Play" or "Triple Play". It should NOT be called "Donruss - Triple Play" though. Triple Play was a stand-alone release from Donruss and it was a major release. I am fine with it staying listed as Triple Play just b/c no other set has ever been released with that name AND it was only made for 3 years (1992, 1993, 1994). Just my 2 cents.

spaz, not exactly true. Panini released a 300 card set of Triple Play in 2012 and another 100 card set in 2013.

Somehow, I just knew I was wrong after I posted it. I was sure someone used the name again, even though I haven't bought much MLB stuff since 2010 when Topps got the monopoly. The difference there is that Panini is still unlicensed by the MLB. They have the Cooperstown licence but they still can't use team logos. That pretty much makes them "Broder" cards. I feel that they would have to be listed as "Panini Triple Play" since they are released by a major company, but without the full license that Donruss had in the 1990's.

I concur also you should have the manufacturer of the set and then the set title for consistancy.

When I first started on this site, I thought I was the only one who thought the manufacturer should be included for all sets, e.g. Fleer Flair, Topps Stadium Club, Upper Deck Collector's Choice, etc. Now I am seeing more members voice the same. I know it would be a big undertaking and there are still those who would oppose it but....

Wow ........ I will finally chime in here, I am glad to see that this is finally getting more people who agree. I too strongly beleive that the manufacturer should be included, it only makes saense on a database meant for accuracy that it is, if you jump in you jump in with both feet. Yes a HUGE undertaking and ultimately only one that Admin can make. It has gotten me confused in the past and I am probably not the only one.

This hysteria for adding names where they don't belong is really starting to take the fun out of the Database's forum- and I can't imagine all the confusion and duplicated listings when new members join, don't see main sets and relist them. It's already happened several times with sets that were simply listed under the wrong heading. (basic release instead of promo as an example)
If you want to match the card, fine. But Flair and SP NEVER ONCE had the parent company printed on the card. Putting Fleer or Upper Deck in front of them would make the Database less accurate. Significantly so as it would make more than 20 year's worth of cards innaccurate.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
